Was that Gary Densham is done after Sonoma, and Melanie's car owner Roger Burgess may pull the plug after Indy....

Gary D isint going anywhere. He's been saying that for years but yet he still shows up at the next race. Now the Mel thing might have legs. I just wish for once she could get into a situation where she didnt have to worry about this crap. Its like every year and every team she gets associated with this happens. We will see how that situation all plays out, with all the rumors around who knows whats true but something has to be.

They talked to Gary about it on the TV show, and he essentially said he's going to stay out as long as is financially possible, but he does need help.

I hope Gary stays out as long as he can, he is in the top 10 in points.

And so much for Roger Burgess staying out the whole season, huh?

Densham should take the Paul Smith approach for the next few races. He's currently 7 rounds ahead of 11th place, so just make only the qualifying passes needed to get into the show and save on parts. I could also see him sitting out perhaps the last race or two before the countdown starts, depending on where he's at in points by then.

I agree about Melanie. She's one of the best drivers out there and has a tremendous amount of marketability to boot. Wish she had the big budget.

She is not one of the best she is the same as all of the drivers. Please tell me why she is one of the best or better yet why you think she is.
They all could drive and are good shoes otherwise they wouldn't be out there!
Marketability! I agree since women are the flavor of the month in the motorsports arena.
I look forward to the day when they are just another competitior and I bet you Melanie feels the same way.
I like Melanie don't think otherwise but unless she has done something I'm not aware of I would like to know.

So Kenny,Gary and Mel are better that John Force,T.J.,Capps,Dixon,Corey,Doug and so on!
See my point?
You can have a preferece but that doen't mean they are better then the next guy now does it?
THEY ALL CAN DRIVE!
Well just to be accurate TJ and Capps have won in both classes as well:D. I don't think Melanie has ever had a consistent enough situation to prove how good or bad she really is. That said I think she's a pretty good driver

She had a pretty consistant ride in TF before they gave her car (well, all of it's parts) and crew chief to Morgan Lucas.

So the really good drivers are pegged to how good the crew chief and team funding is!
Interesting so I guess Tony Schumacher is the best T/F driver with that logic!:p
I hate to tell you but the crew chief and setup has nothing to do with their ability to drive.
So it comes back to what I said "THEY ALL CAN DRIVE"! ;)

And people wonder why PJ has an issue with the Countdown.....

I thought she did a very nice job transitioning from T/F to F/C. She seems to be a good leaver and can certainly handle an out of shape car. When I mentioned marketability it is because of how she handles herself. I didn't mention anything about being a woman. Who pissed in your Cheerios today?

I have to preface this. I don't know Mr. Burgess and have never met him. I know nothing about his company or his financial status. However, I tend to get a bad taste in my mouth when I read a release such as this. How many times have we seen this before? First, word spreads around the campfire that a certain team is going to be parked. Next, the team issues a release saying everything hunky-doory and they aren't going anywhere. Finally, the team pulls the plug and the driver gets screwed. The driver is always the last to know and they find out too late in the season to put something new together. I sure hope I'm wrong on this one and everything works out for everybody involved. Mel is a great person and I think she is an asset to this sport. She has been through this too many times to have it happen again. I'm hoping for the best.

Dave

It may have something to do with the IRS rules about sponsoring your own car and the tax laws.

Menards had the same issue when they sponsored Paul's NASCAR ride.

~ I wonder if Max Naylor and his recept acquisition of Vegas Fuel will have the same issues???? -----not to hijack the thread, just didnt feel it warranted starting a new one.....

Nobody Dave.
I just get curious as to why someone deems somebody is one of the best.
Everything you described can be done by any of the other drivers out there.
I just wanted know Dave, I didn't meant to rain on your parade. ;)
I know people have personal preferences to drivers but one thing is certain anybody can drive these cars if they have the desire and means.
Perferct example is Antrone Brown! You here some of the veterans say you should ease you're way into the nitro cars and work your way up but he is a perfect example that you DON'T!
He is very talented and should be a decent driver for years to come!
