ROWE GETS LOOSE IN EPPING

(8-13-2007) EPPING, NH – Although this weekend in Epping wasn’t exactly what he was looking for, Danny Rowe is happy to have broken the string of first-round exits he has endured the last three races.

It wasn’t pretty, but Rowe’s 6.285/230.25mph combination in the 2nd round of qualifying was just enough to bump the Unfinished Business team into the #15 spot on the qualifying sheet. Going into the first round, Rowe was paired up with Chip King – qualified 7th. King’s car bogged at the hit of the throttle and he never recovered as Rowe pulled away crossing the finish line first with a 6.239 at 228.33mph to take the win.

“Qualifying didn’t go as planned; that’s for sure,” explained Rowe. “We’ve struggled to get back in the groove the last couple races – qualifying well and going rounds on race day, but we’ll stay confident going into the back-half of the race season. I know we’ve got our work cut out for us, but we’ve got 5 races left to prove ourselves.

“Getting past the first round was an accomplishment in itself. The level of competition in IHRA Pro Modified right now is as fierce as it’s ever been and qualifying and going a couple rounds is nothing to be disappointed in. However, I know we’re a championship caliber team and we’re not going to be satisfied until we reach that goal. It’s our driving force.”

Rowe’s second-round matchup with Pro Modified-legend Shannon “The Iceman” Jenkins would because for an early exit from the festivities in Epping. As usual, Rowe had the starting line advantage, but got way out of shape and crossed the center line – awarding the automatic win to Jenkins.

Definitely not what Rowe, Rector and the rest of the Red Line Oil/Gainsborough Capital team was looking for, but a good show for the thousands of fans in attendance none-the-less.

Next up is the IHRA Suzuki Motor City Nationals in Detroit, Michigan, Aug. 24-26.
