QUARTERFINAL ROUND FINISH FOR ROWE IN MILAN

(9-23-2007) MILAN, MI – Danny Rowe may not have had the weekend he was looking for at the Milan, Michigan-based IHRA Suzuki Motor City Nationals, but the team is making a move in the right direction.

Rowe qualified the Gainsborough Capital-backed in the 14th position with a 6.401/231.12mph combination in the heat of the day on Saturday. Due to the rain-date, Rowe missed Friday night’s premiere qualifying session as he was in transit to the track from Istanbul.

Despite finding himself on the wrong end of the qualifying ladder at the close of qualifying, Rowe was confident going into race day.

“Obviously, we would have liked to have qualified better, but that’s that,” explained Rowe. “We can’t dwell on what could have been; we have go into Sunday confident and sure-footed. I think we’re finally getting a handle on this new ’67 Camaro for Redline Oil, Gainsborough Capital, Permatex and everyone that supports us. We came into the 2007 season with one goal in mind, winning a championship, and while that goal may not necessary become a reality this year – I’m confident that we have a championship-level program.”

In first-class fashion, as always, Danny Rowe, Jimmy Rector and the rest of the Unfinished Business team came into Sunday with both guns blazing. In the first round of action it was Jason Hamstra who would have to face off with Rowe; in the face of a considerable starting line advantage, Rowe made use of the ever-ready Rector Horsepower and drove past Hamstra for the win: 6.18/231.52mph to a 6.33/228.38mph.

The second round, however, wouldn’t prove as gratifying for Rowe and company as he met with Burton Auxier. At the drop of the clutch, Rowe’s Camaro was right up on the wheelie bars and stayed their for nearly 300 feet until he was forced to lift – handing the win to Auxier.

“We really just need to be consistent this weekend and we could have gone some rounds, but we missed the mark a little bit for the second round and paid for it. That’s drag racing, but it’s definitely not the fun part of it. We have two races left this season to make a statement and that’s what we plan to do.”

Coming out of Milan, Rowe remains 8th in the IHRA Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified point standings.
