For the Summit Racing Southern Nationals, Bob Chandler, the creator of the monster truck Bigfoot, was honored as the Grand Marshal for the weekend. With him he brought the very first Bigfoot which was parked close to the tower by the burnout box and on Sunday was part of the Winner's Circle.

Following the race in the Winner's Circle, one of Robert Height's crew said they should have Bigfoot tow them and the funny car back to their pits.

Bob Chandler overheard the comment, turned to his driver Kyle and asked if he had the keys to Bigfoot on him... :D

Very cool David! Great idea/pix!!!
The TV showed a short clip of it driving on the return road in front of a set of grandstands.
Thx for sharing!
:):cool::)

I allways used to think that the monster trucks were all about show and car crushing and were just a crowd pleasing thing but after seeing them on the tv and reading up on them I was right and wrong. Yes they do have the all show stuff but they aparently even have races where 2 race each other around a track and aparently they used to do off road trial event stuff. I had a new found respect for them when I found out that yes they do race and compete and its not just a show.

Monster trucks in my opinion were cooler back when they were just a crowd pleasing thing. They used to be souped up factory trucks all chromed out and everything. Then instead of showing off and bragging rights, they started racing for money. Then they started moving away from stock trucks and more toward custom built from scratch tube chassis with fiberglass bodies. Nowadays most of them only resemble trucks in that theres 4 wheels... and thats about it.... Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Similar too in that they still have a large fan following, and that there are still people out there longing for the "good ol days"

Why was Bob Chandler the GM at this event? I thought Bigfoot was based in St. Louis. Would have made more sence two weeks ago.
