In a separate thread, the Red Sox vs. The Yankees came up. That is an intense rivalry.

What are some of the intense drag racing rivalries you know of? I only know of Muldowney vs. Garlits, but since I am a nitro head and don't really pay attention to PS or PSM, I don't know of rivalries in that class (I recall something about Glidden, but maybe that was Glidden vs. everyone else) . I imagine there are some strong ones in TA/D, A/Fuel, and TA/FC.

Al Hofmann vs. John Force, seemed to peak out mid 1990's.

I remember the top end interview of this next video, it sealed the deal to make Al my favorite driver of all time.

Let's se you got..
1. Schumacher vs. Dixon:confused:
2. Summit vs. Jeg's:cool:
3. M-Smith vs. M-Phillips::mad:
4. Millican vs. Herbert:mad:
5. Glidden vs. L. Sheppard R.I.P.

Beck vs Garlits - Wiebe vs Garlits - Carbone vs Garlits (pretty much just the Indy thing but god was that ever the most intense moment(s) ever in drag racing or what?!!)

Gwynn vs Garlits too in 85 and 86. They ran a lot of finals together, and it seemed Gwynn would have the field covered by a tenth but Big Daddy would always come out on top end the end. (Indy and Dallas come to mind pretty quick)

The Shirley vs Big Daddy rivalry was so strong, that Garlits kept score on his trailer door, and if Shirley beat Garlits down south, his fans would throw beer bottles on the track. One fan spit soda in shirleys face, and Tobler smacked him with a fuel hose.

bummer that most of the ones mentioned are in the past.

They keep trying to build Shoe/Dixon into one and results wise its there but they don't play and dance to breath life into it.

WJ is willing to talk about anyone/thing/place/... needs to be back towards the top more, then we could get him and anyone.

I can count dozens of 1 or 2-race spats but the one that comes first and foremost to this old mind is Snake VS Mongoose.

KS PITTMAN vs. STONE, WOODS AND COOK

FRANK MANZO vs. TONY BARTONE

GARLITS vs. THE WORLD

SNAKE vs. MONGOOSE

WJ vs. ALDERMAN

FORD vs. CHEVY

AMATO vs. ORSMBY 89'

GLIDDEN vs. SHEPHERD

In the 70's in the Northwest, it was Jerry "the king" Ruth against just about everybody. He dominated in TF and FC.
