Sorry to hear this. Actually worked with him a bit (via phone, email, etc.) in the mid 1990s on a custom head gasket project that never came to fruition. The company I worked for was already involved in a head gasket program for Canadian aircraft engine manufacturer Orenda for a conversion engine that was based on a big block Chevy, so we knew how to build head gaskets. These used a graphite material known as Grafoil and Dick wanted to try this in a racing engine. This is the same material used in some header gaskets - all based in work we did with Earl's back in the '90s.
But enough story telling...condolences to the family.
