Christopher Leo Schoen, 58, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2024 at his home in Boise, ID. He arrived in this world on February 14, 1966 in Nyssa, OR; the youngest of six siblings raised by Ron and Barbara Schoen in Payette, ID. Chris graduated from Payette High School in 1984 and was a member of the basketball and track teams. He played basketball at Portland Community College in 1984-85 before becoming an Alaska salmon fisherman with his brother in law Tom Bertman. After fishing he spent his entire career in sales and service, working for Jacuzzi at the time of death, and prior to that for Verizon for 25 years. At Verizon Chris was consistently a top performer and number one in sales or store manager. To his California friends and family, he was simply known as “Spud” due to Idaho roots.
On April 4, 2002 he married Lisa Michelle Cox of Ventura, CA whom he met via family and later they attended a NHRA event at the inaugural drag races in Las Vegas. They were lifelong fans of the NHRA races and attended many around the country. Together they raised a beautiful daughter, Taylor Ann, born on August 31, 2001 in Boise, ID. Family was very important to Chris and his wife and daughter were his pride and joy. Chris was an ardent fan of the Miami Dolphins, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia 76ers and attended numerous unforgettable games.
Chris was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ronald and Barbara Schoen, his sister Marilyn Joy Coleman, and his brother Michael Schoen. He is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Taylor, sister Mary Jean Kaufman of Ocean Park, WA; sister Shelley Curtis of Portland, OR, and sister Laurie Dorman of Lewisanton, ID. He treated his brother-in-laws like a brother including Dan Dormam, Tom Bertman, Bruce Kaufman, Jim Curtis and Richard Coleman. He loved and adored his numerous nieces and nephews, and their children as well.
Arrangements are under the care of the Cremation Society of Idaho in Boise. A memorial will be held at a future date.
