Saw on another board that we've lost another pioneer. I still remember getting a model of his FC as a birthday present when I was a kid. RIP Gas

I really hate hearing that. I was fortunate to go to the Gas Ronda benefit race at Beeline in April ‘70. That was a wild race.
He was one of the true pioneers of the sport.

sad news...

that amt funny car kit had the paper molded record of gas making a full pass. sounded great on the arvin stereo at full blast. Also that model car kit won me 1st place at the woolworths model car contest. brings me back old memories.

Bob, I had that record but forgot it came with Gas’s kit! I won some model contests as a kid too, man I would hole up in my room and devote all the time I had after homework working on whatever model I had. I would love to see young kids today take a break from the technology and get into building models.

1959 Buick that I built from...AMT? kit. I lowered it when it was the "custom car thing" & entered it in a model car show in Glendale, Calif, where i grew up. Wish I still had that little model car. :)
