Major Auto Racing news,

Chris Economaki passed away he was 91.

I remember he was honored at Englishtown back in 2007.

Wow!

Makes ME feel old. How many of us guys was brought-up in racing by the voice of Chris Economaki?

A giant; he had a good run and will be welcomed in heaven.

Listening to him is what Sparked my Love of Racing, he was a True Giant and there will never be another like him.

His voice and the short film clips describing the US Nationals on ABC's Wide World of Sports was my introduction to dragracing.

Like others have said his voice and coverage of the early drag races served as my introduction to racing as a kid. I remember suffering through figure skating for what seemed like hours on Wide World of Sports for the short auto racing segments. He was a true professional sportscaster.

He was an icon in motorsports, I remember him making a statement at the US Nationals where he mentioned the costs of all the different motorsports in the world. At the US Nationals if calculated, costs among all the different classes at that particular race it would vastly out number the any of the other motorsport venues including Nascar and Formula 1. Which I believe is true.He was gifted with that voice which resonated over the engine noise and could articulate car and driver to a novice fan and that made him one of the greatest race announcers of all time!

Wow. A sad day indeed. I can hear that distinctive voice, and delivery now as I write this. I grew up listening to his reports as well.

RIP Chris. :(

Will always remember Chris announcing on Wide World of Sports and on other motorsports broadcasts. He was a great announcer and I highly respect his work. It was a blessing to have him apart of my motorsports experience.

A fine man-And huge advocate for the sport will be missed.

Our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of legend Chris Economaki.
