Ferraris and Lambos better watch out.

Actually Sam they have to only look ahead since they are clearly behind. Check it out:
Nürburgring lap times - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We just absolutely love our C6. My sons took Pauls and the wife and I took ours over to Long Beach to the boat races this past weekend. We both averaged over 30 MPG while having the times of our lives driving in LAs traffic. These cars are the ultimate equalizers for the "tools" in traffic. I've owned and driven lots of horsepower and lots of classics but I've never been in the complete package that is the new Vette. The park also made for an excellent photo opp.

Here's Pauls

Hey Bobbi, nice looking shots. Must have been a great road trip. We're running up to Oregon soon and back down the coast line, can't wait.

Hey Tom, thanks for the video, always good to get me going in the morning.

26-28 mpg everyday driving and 30+ on the freeway at 70-75 mph... and the Prius lovers can kiss my ass because my yellow rocket is a hell of lot more fun to drive than their econo-****box. Plus wait till they have to replace the batteries in 5 years and see how economical they think their precious hybrid is... LOL

I must avert my eyes and resist temptation. The only other car I've ever really wanted to own (aside from my baby, my 2000 purty blue Mustang) is a Corvette. I have a two mile commute to work ... 26-28 MPG in city? *drool* Even with some modifications I'm not getting 26 MPG in city on my baby. Sigh. It's almost paid for -- I wasn't so good with financial planning when I bought it 6 years ago, sigh -- so I've been pondering what my next purchase would be sometime next year.

I wonder how I'd look in a black one...

No. No! I must resist. We need something you can get more than two adults into ... hubby drives a Ranger. Hmm. I'll just make him trade his truck in for an SUV. :p

So, uh, dare I ask what this new Vette pencils out at?

Kris, permit me to say just a couple things.
First-This car can't compare in very many ways to your Mustang. They are both awesome cars but the difference is staggering. I know, we have a very nice '73 Camaro with ample horsepower, urethane bushings t/o and set up to really enjoy but it's like driving a backhoe compared to this Vette.
Lastly-It's only my opinion but I would never buy a brand new one. We purchased both of ours from somebody else who took the outrageous depreciation the first year brings and now enjoy the factory warranty at a greatly reduced price. Paul and I both got ours for under $40K each w/more than 1/2 the factory warranty left. We went one step further and negotiated an excellent buy on extended bumper-to-bumper warranties to 100K miles since everything is electronically controlled. I've been looking for the auto pilot since it's the only feature I haven't found yet. Ask anyone who owns one, they won't stop raving.

This is so true. I've ridden in a Corvette once. My Mustang has a measly 3.8L V6. It's got a little extra horsepower because my best friend is a mechanic and he made a few modifications (it was a Christmas gift last year) but the Corvette is at least twice that stock. Now, I love my car, but you're right. It's apples to oranges. I just love fast and sexy cars, to me Mustangs, Corvettes and early generation Camaros (though the current version is pretty slick) are the best. But the Mustang is the everyman sports car -- stock, at least.

And I agree on not buying brand new. I've learned from watching others do that. Absolutely, let someone else take the depreciation hit! :D I bought my Mustang in 2002. It had 25k on it and I got it for a steal. I made the mistake of re-financing it two years ago, otherwise, it would have already been paid off. Next vehicle I buy will not be brand new, no way, and I plan to save a healthy down payment and do short-term financing.

I would be comfortable doing what you did to get your Vette. Through various personal and professional relationship I have some good contacts and would probably be able to find a good deal. :)

But before I can even consider buying a Corvette or any other new car I would need a new house with a bigger garage. Heh. My little starter house has a garage just big enough for my car and then the usual assortment of crap people store in garages.

So, I got some time to think. ;)

Neighbor down the street just picked up a 2006 with 22,000 in a distress sale for $25,000.

OMG!! Wish I were the neighbor!! Took a test ride in one last year...test ride - they weren't letting anyone drive them. bummer, because they let a guy drive one and he didn't bring it back in one piece...

All the financial bloggers say buying a one year car saves you all that depreciation! Either way $30,000 for a used Corvette chews up a lot of Race money!!!!

Very impressive car. Nice driving job too. The Nürburgring is the most difficult course in the world.

You can bet the Germans won't stand for that. The next 911 turbo Porsche will be wicked.

My brother in law just bought a new 08 Vette and it is awesome! We have put a few;) miles on it in the 2 weeks he's had it! I am amazed at how comfortable this car is on a drive! My wife and I took it out to dinner last weekend before our trip and we both loved it! Then reality set in when we got back to my brother in laws...we could never own one due to being a family of 4! At least B.I.L. and his wife are great by watching the kids and letting us play with the Vette...he owes me...he wrecked my Mustang GT when he was 17 and I always remind him of how he "killed" my 1st wife!!:D I'll try and post a pic if I can figure out how to.
