Thanks, knew it was Cruz but didn't want to be a spoiler if anyone hadn't watched.
Was it a new body for that run, or was it not latched properly?
I can see being too low in front of the tire would trip a timer early....
but they said the body was too low BEHIND the tire...![]()
This may have something to do with the DQ:
BODY
holes for air passage prohibited. QUOTE]
Hmmm...how do they get away with hinged tail lights
As far as I knew, they stage with tires and trip the downtrack timers with the bodies. I understand the theory that if he had something behind the front tires that the timers wouldn't start as quick, but I thought there was a guard beam in place to take care of that?

Zappy, Having the body too low behind the front tire will result in quicker times as the clock won't start till the lowered body clears the beam, instead of when the tire clears the beam, thus giving the car a running start.
But like I said in my earlier post, Rocky, why wouldn't the guard beam take care of that?

Zappy, Having the body too low behind the front tire will result in quicker times as the clock won't start till the lowered body clears the beam, instead of when the tire clears the beam, thus giving the car a running start and a quicker ET. It will also result in a quicker 60' time which, as I understand it, caused NHRA to take a close look at his car.
Also keep in mind that the front trees on those cars have adjustments where they sit on the chassis. They run them with the very front on the body up from the chassis so at speed the body is pushed down blocking air from going under the body and also tripping the finish line beam with the body.
JMO. As I read the rules, the holes for the PASSAGE of air through the body are not allowed but the taillights allow the air a way out from under the body.
I have been around a long time and what am I missing? every starting line I have been to or staged a car, I have only noticed 3 lights(beams) at the starting line not a 4th
