Reportedly, all of the asphalt and part of the pad are being replaced. Unsubstantiated rumor is that NHRA finally issued an ulimatum. Hopefully, this might also include some improvements for the fans.

Jim, are you OK? Feverish, cold sweats, chills, hot flashes? Or, has Charlie passed the torch (as likely as NHRA selling to Bruton Smith.) If this is true, are you saying I could actually wash my hands with soap next season? I"m sorry, I need to sit down for a while to digest this information.

Doc - I'm just reporting that something is going on with the racing surface!
Please note my use of the word "hopefully" before you look forward to improved amenities -

Hopefully cheap Charlie learned his lesson and will not make his concrete from the Arizona DOT scrap pile.

Now they can tear everything else down and rebuild it too and Fireturd might actually be a nice facility. That place is a dump.

Nothing happening in Phoenix this week. Next weekend we have the WestCoastHotrods fastest street car shootout at speedworld. Word on the street is that the track and the promoter are trying to bring the band SlantEyedFishHead to play at the event. I will attend just for the band.
The week after that we have K boats and SS boats. But can't think of anything this week. Sorry.

I drove into the track today and saw them popping up concrete at the starting line. Looked like some stuff was going on down track but couldn't tell what. I saw no milling machine onsite, but quite a few backhoe's and bobcats, rollers and dumptrucks. I gotta wonder how they are gonna get all this done and get any rubber on the track before the PSCA race. If they are pouring new concrete, shouldn't it cure for 30 days before use?

Maybe it cures faster in the desert?

I'll be in Phoenix Oct 6-20 so I hope something will be happening at Firebird.

If you have any interest in the junior drag racing program, the team e.t. finals are being held at Speedworld this weekend.

I am only in town until Friday afternoon. I was hoping for a Wednesday night test-n-tune or something similar. I am only a few miles from PIR, I could bust in the place and hot lap the rental!!! On second thought, it is a Chevy HHR.
