Record entries expected for PMRA round 3
Pro Modifieds return to Cayuga for popular KC Auto Family Day race

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 13, 2008) – A record number of teams is expected for the upcoming Fourth Annual KC Auto Parts Family Day PMRA Challenge presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario Saturday, June 28.

“This event has proven very popular with our competitors,” said PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher. “The teams love running at Cayuga, and we’re expecting a high number of them for this race.” The event will be the third in the six-race PMRA presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario 2008 tour.

Last year’s race was won by Toronto’s Sam Andreacchi, who bested a field of 15 others to take his first PMRA win.

At present, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, leads the 2008 Point Series, sponsored by Wix Filters, Valvoline, Uni-Select, and Moen. Larry Sinke of Welland, Ontario is next, followed by Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York. Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario is fourth, and Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, rounds out the top five.

With increased sponsorship, a record number of teams, and the Ajax Engines Chicago-style Shoot-out to round out the eliminations, this season promises to be the best ever for the PMRA fans.

There will be three qualifying sessions on Saturday, June 28 starting at 2:00 p.m. Championship eliminations for the top eight qualifiers will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Joining the PMRA Pro Modifieds will be the OSCA (Ontario Street Car Association) featuring the wild and ferocious Super Street Outlaw 10.5 cars. Since its inception about 12 years ago, Super Street Outlaw class drag racing, also known as 10.5 -inch tire racing, has grown tremendously. With a basic platform revolving around a stock- bodied muscle car and stock-style front suspension, the class is restricted to a 10.5-inch wide rear slick, and all entries must run mufflers to maintain some roots to their street driven origin.

The New York International Raceway Park event in New York State was completed June 7. The PMRA will compete at Dunn Tire Raceway Park July 26, also in New York State. An event is scheduled at the Sanair facility in Quebec August 16, and the season-closer will be held at the Southwestern Ontario track of the Grand Bend Motorplex August 30 and 31.
