RAYMORE, MISSOURI’s ALAN HERIFORD SELECTED AS NAPA HONORARY CREW MEMBER AT THE NHRA SUMMER NATIONALS

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 1, 2008) – Alan Heriford, of Raymore, Mo., was selected as the ninth NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season at the NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

A longtime motorsports fan, the 36-year-old owner of Johnson County Automotive in Merriam, Kan., was attending his first drag race on Sunday. "This is an absolute thrill," said an enthusiastic Heriford. "I am just blown away. I've always wanted to come out here to see the drag races but I've always had conflicts with scheduling. This weekend was perfect. At first I knew I was getting tickets and I was excited about that, but I was just blown away when I found out that this was going to happen. I feel really honored."

Keith Finlay, the NAPA AUTO PARTS District Manager for Kansas City, awarded Heriford the honorary crew member honors. "We were approaching Alan about becoming a NAPA customer," explained Finlay. "We found out that he was interested in drag racing and decided to give him the opportunity to be an honorary crew member and he was extremely excited. The next day he spent quite a bit of money with us and I think we will win over his business with this opportunity. It's going to really pump him up about NAPA and it looks like we are going to inherit his business from a rival auto parts store."

As the NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member Hereford received a NAPA team shirt and met the entire NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car crew. After watching Top Fuel from the starting line Heriford enjoyed the rare opportunity of escorting the Ron Capps-driven NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge to the staging lanes in the team's Dodge Durango tow vehicle for the first round of eliminations and then helped retrieve the car at the end of the track following the run.

The Kansas City Distribution Center services approximately 140 NAPA AUTO PARTS stores, including half of Missouri and almost the entire state of Kansas. During the season the NAPA distribution centers at each event will have different criteria for choosing the people who are potential NAPA Honorary Crew members.
