On the other hand, no one has run a Hemi in any of those (turbocharged Pro Mod) cars, that I know of, and there MIGHT be some advantage to that... if NHRA hasn't outlawed them, too...

Time will tell...

Yeah, there have been Hemi combinations. It's just that none of them have been as successful as Steve Petty's 481X engine.

All the turbo cars have to run a spec turbo from Precision Turbo. They set a max displacement but I don't believe that any of the turbo cars were running over that CI size, anyways. So I don't think that will be a huge factor.

Steve will still be the man to beat this season.

I don't know the technological differences between the powerplants in the Top Alcohol Funny Car motors and the Pro Mod cars, but you don't see any thing BUT Hemis in TAFC, so I wondered why Pro Mod would be any different. It's all about volumetric efficiency, I think, and it's really hard to beat a supercharged (or, turbocharged) Hemi in that department.

Were the Hemi combinations you referred to, turbocharged, Bernie? That could change everything.

Gonna be interesting...:D

Yep, there were turbocharged Hemi's competing at different points throughout the season.

It's more who you have tuning the equipment you have than the equipment itself. There are lots of guys that tried to campaign a successful turbo car and most fell short to Steve Petty. He's a turbo genius.

Not taking away anything from Brad Personette or anyone else who have tuned turbo Pro Mods, but Steve Petty is pretty hard to beat. He had Tim Lynch and a few others that he tunes for flying in the Outlaw 10.5 world at 3000 + lbs. With the amount of money and resources that I'm assuming that Jegs has available, they may be hard to beat this year.....
