There is supposed to be but it's hard to police. I was actually the cause of the "team orders' rule back in 2007 Maple Grove

Thanks Jeff for helping me, my thought if there is a rule why is everybody saying be man and admit it to NHRA, not a fan of team orders, not for me judge, man up or not who’s going to throw them selves under the Buss

Seems like it would be easier just to be honest about it. Formula 1 has survived a long time with obvious team orders during the race.

there have been instances of drivers throwing a race for years. I've never heard of NHRA taking any action. It's easy to suspect but very hard to prove. In the past they have looked at run data but never enforced any penalty as far as I know.

I have often thought that if I wanted to throw a race in Pro Stock (either bike or car) I would launch and run it into the rev limiter in 3rd gear. Everyone will hear it and I would say that it wouldn't shift. People are going to believe what they want, but that would be plausible. And if a driver wanted to do that, he could do it without instruction and only he would ever know for sure.

If a Nitro CC wanted to do it, just set it up to shake or smoke the tires. If I as the driver wanted to do it on my own, I would try to overheat the clutch backing up from the burnout. Jeff probably knows everyway possible.

And while it certainly does happen, I personally don't think it happens as often as some people do.

If a driver admited the dive would NHRA do something then because then there’s no gray matter, if that was the case what are the pentalties they can enforce, it gets me that everyone thinks they should admit the dive to be a man about it and possibly get a disqualification. Personally don’t like team orders but then I don’t know what the people that fund the programs have to say about that, Alan, thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions

5 degrees of timing advance, 10% more fuel on the TPS map or 2 additional pounds of pressure in the rear tires. A million ways to make a car lose a tenth.

Years ago when I was driving the Circuit Breaker top fuel car I was asked by the owner of a top fuel car what it would cost him for me to lose this round. I told him that he didn't have enough money, and I said to him the only way I will lose this round is if the motor does not start. when I told the owner of the Circuit Breaker (Bob and Richardson RIP) what was said, He said it WILL start, it did and I won the round. If you are going to race and lose on purpose YOU ARE A LOSER PERIOD.

It’s so much worse than I remembered it. I wonder if John ever regretted doing it. Hight went on to win the championship and the runner up was Ashley Force. More or less cost his daughter the championship.

Alan, you have been around this sport a long time, are you saying Coughlin didnt throw the race against Erica? It was pretty evident he was going "to do whatever it takes" as per his interview, his incremental times were better the entire way down the track, add in he is in Elites stable. If anyone can say he didnt throw that race you are a better man than i am.
