I though the safety safari did an awesome job of keeping him safe until they got him out.

Boy-it sure seemed to me (being a keyboard fireman for a moment) that it took forever to get the fire out. Whats a P/s hold for fuel? 2-3 gallons ? And it sure semed like it was water they were spraying. It may have been the camera angle but didn't it look like 2 members were shooting the hoses towards each other from oposite sides of the car? And after 20? 30? 45 seconds? foam + dry power were sprayed and the fire went out. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong on this-but what I saw didn't look like pros containing a small situation quickly.

It looked to me like they were just hitting the fire with water trying to keep the flames away from the driver, as soon as he was loose and getting away from the car they hit the fire with foam and put it out.
As long as the safety safari has been at this business and with there track record if they all want to stand around the car and blow on it I damn sure wouldent question it!!;)
 
There is not a better safety crew that I would want in my corner.

That bears repeating. I can't think of another form of motorsports in which ANY help would have been there for the driver as quickly - other than perhaps a corner worker dragging a 5 pound extinguisher with him as he ran to the scene.

These guys are so good they are in a class of their own.

It's not just the people on the trucks, either. If you look at the video, a track worker is sprinting to open the retaining wall door as Brogdon goes sliding by and the truck is already moving to the track. He's running directly toward a vehicle that's coming straight at him and shedding parts.

Notice how many people get to the scene and the very short period of time it takes for them to get there.

The Safety Safari gets nowhere near the credit they deserve.

Having used their services once in Virginia I have no pointers/corrective actions for them. They were there within seconds. Made sure I was safe and OK. I sincerely apprciate all that they do and how they do it. We all should.

- also, if this incident would have transpired in concord.........know where i'm
going with this?

Had it transpired in Concord, you would have had the same results, the 2 tracks are separated by a barrier wall.

yes, i'm aware of the track layout at concord.

if this accident would have happened at concord other racers and possibly
even the involved may have banded together to suggest he couldn't
see the other competitors and felt he had to 'stay in it' to get the 1 of 2 transfer spots.............this was one of the key factors in PRO's dissent at concord.
this is the only point i was trying to convey.

don't how to quantify how 'long' or how 'close' this was to a previous incident; all i know is roger's car passed just behind competitor's car
on it's side and somewhere between 45 degrees and perpendicular with track.
transpose the position of the two cars and you've got problems.
