Pro debuts will have to wait, as rain halts pomona action (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]Tim Wilkerson and his Levi, Ray & Shoup team were working hard throughout the day on Thursday, keeping an eye on the clock as they readied the new LRS Shelby Mustang for its 2009 NHRA Full Throttle debut. Not too long after they warmed the car up, Mother Nature reminded everyone who was actually in charge, as she washed out the day prior to the pro session.

The schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will remain in effect, weather permitting.

"This is a lousy way to start everything off, but I won't lie and say we were surprised," Wilkerson said. "We'd all seen the forecasts and heard the weather guys out here, and it's tough because they really need the rain and everyone but the race fans were actually hoping it would show up. It's not looking too pretty, but we've all been through these deals where the forecast is a lock and there's no way you're supposed to be able to do anything, and then it doesn't rain and everything comes off without a hitch, so we'll just be ready for anything.

"The car is ready to go, we're ready to go, and all we need is some decent weather and we'll get this season started. Until then, there's nothing we can do about it so we'll just go with the flow and stay ready."
