Even with all the negative PR surrounding tobacco nowadays, am I the only one who misses the consistency of being able to say Winston Drag Racing for so many years? That cap was on my head every day and my bedpost every night.

I have always referred to drag racing as just that "drag racing". I have never attributed any branding to it ... I have no idea why.

But in regards to NASCAR, I still say Winston Cup. Most of the bandwagon jumpers are noobs and have no idea about the Winston days ... so I have appended it to just "Cup Racing". In fact, I still call it Busch Racing instead of Nationwide series. I am just lagging behind all the way around ....

Well, he must be thinking outside the box! :D

Ron (I get as sick of cliches as anyone, especially when they're used as a weak attempt at validating something) in Bristol.

at least it wasn't a win win situation that will help transform the new paradigm through forwards thinking that will be able to mesh Synergies:D

The first time I heard them call it "Sprint Cup Racing" I thought they were talking about sprint cars...

I am working on trying to put together a small deal with an Energy Drink for this year and beyond for my Drag Racing efforts. Am I screwed now?

As everyone knows, there are several teams out there that a supported by Energy Drinks. I am not one to publically bash NHRA, (and I not trying to do that here) but it sure looks to me like somebody is trying to make sponsorship go away. The sport lost a few cars because of the Torco thing. What is this sport going to look like if these Energy Drink teams have to eventally shut down due to lack of funding. It's not like you can just go out a get a new deal just like that. I hear all of the "taking the sport to the next level" B.S. chatter and I'm beginning to think the next level may be headed down and not up.

I am glad the series has a sponsor.

While I really like to support the sponsors by purchasing their products,
unfortunately, I won't be able to support(purchase and consume) this product. :(
Too much sugar and caffiene.

I loved powerade tho.
Love dasani water too, it's a great product.

As far as retail sales go, here is how energy drinks rank in the grocery store I work ;) in:

1) Monster
2) Rockstar
3) Red bull

a very very very distant 4) Full throttle

I gave Rockstar very prominent location on the sales floor for sponsoring DSR.
The FT is in the same cooler as Rockstar. The FT just sits.

Yeah, they have to feather their nests while on the gravy train and wanting their cake but, if we could get a little better than run of the mill? I know, I'm preaching to the choir! Guess we just have to take it one day at a time. :)

They do, Tom.
It's called "Unleaded" with no sugar or carbs. Silver can.

(I haven't had a soda in about 2 years).

I live on Caffeine, Sugar, Nicotine, and Cholesterol
Sometime I throw in something from the Red Meat category. Crispy outside, bloody inside.

I drink Monster Blue, Full Throttle, Maxwell House Columbian. Waiting for Vegas Fuel to hit the 'right' coast. I don't drink flavored water, but in 50/10 I'll take 50 every time.

And why while I was in Atlanta two weeks ago, all I could find in a vending machine was PEPSI?

d'kid
Don't do anything half @$$.

Ah yes! I remember the time I took my new bride (Born and raised here in Minnesota.) on our honeymoon to the Ozarks.

We stopped for breakfast. "But Honey, I didn't order grits!" "Hush! Just eat them. I'll explain later! And for god sakes don't put sugar on 'em either!"

I was raised in Missouri, still considered a Yankee by anyone south of the MDL. But at least I knew my way around.

Yeah, I found a voicemail last night from a friend in CT who ONLY CALLED to let me know he was in Cracker Barrel ordering wheat toast! Last time I was there with him, he put gravy on it!

I got to wondering about the TV interviews at the end of the track. Since everyone has had to take a swig of Powerade, does that now mean they have to take a swig of Full Throttle? That would suck big time for Toliver and TJ.

I kindly refer you to #5 -- three of the five companies don't exist today, and one was the biggest bankruptcy in history (at one time). :o

Just helping my buddy Karl out as the Southernization process is apparently not yet complete. :D

We just don't have time in our day to be running around and saying all those extra syllables when ordering soft drinks. :)

I like those other tips near the bottom of the page.

1. Save all manner of bacon grease.
16. Be advised that in the South, "He needed killin" is a valid defense.

There must be gobs of profit in those energy drinks. I pick up empty containers of the crap off my lawn 2 to 3 times a week. Never had to pick up a Gatorade, or Powerade container. The coolers in any convenience store are crammed with those drinks. And the caffiene content is sky high. Wikipedia has an article on Full Throttle and other similar drinks.

Ya know? When people complain about gas prices I often point out what we pay per gallon for beverages. I hadn't even thought about what energy drinks cost a gallon. How many ounces are in those little cans?

Was just skimming the link. As usual, high fructose corn syrup. I bet, like many beverages, the can costs them more to produce than what's in it! :D
