Pontieri Goes to Final Round at Houston

Houston March 31,2008 Tony Pontieri had a successful weekend at the Jegs Pro mod Series spring nationals. “We worked hard and it paid off taking us to the final round. We just came up a little short this weekend”

“It’s all about consistency,” said Pontieri “We always want to be in every final round and win, but that’s something easier said than done in this class. We’re happy going rounds. When you have eight more events, those rounds add up.”

Pontieri entered eliminations as the 6th quickest qualifier, running a 6.020 @ 236.96.

Pontieri’s march to the final round included victories over Scott Ray, Mike Ashley, and Eddie Ware before losing to eventual winner Joe Baker

Potieri is ranked second in the championship points standings, a mere 80 points from first. “My guys Paolo Dolimante, Frank Fierro, and Gordon Best are here to work hard and take a Jegs Pro Mod Series trophy back to Canada. We also want to thank Randy who couldn’t make the trip du to his broken down Ford pickup truck.”

“Scotty Cannon and his crew really helped us when it came time to line up for the final round and a fast turn around, jumping right in to help.” Pontieri said.

“Having someone the caliber of Scotty Cannon giving us tips and guidance has really helped our consistency this year.” said Paolo Dalimonte.

“And last but most importantly to my wife Doris and my daughter Lily, thanks for letting me pursue my racing and being supportive, I love you both and I am on my way home.”

Tony Pontieri and crew wish to thank Quality Plus Compressors, Rob and Ann Sporring, DMPE, ERD, The Trailer Shop, ATC, Tim McAmis Race Cars, Cucci’s Hair Salon, Too Precise Machine, Cannonball Racing, MGP Connecting Rods, Roger Doma, AFT Clutches, Joe Van Overbeek Race Car Bodies, Hoosier Tires, Bears Performance and all the racers competing in the Jegs Pro Mod Series.
