* We didn't have enough points at the end of the forth quarter of the football game. Can't we have another quarter? It's only fair.
* At the end of the second half of the basketball game our team was behind but everybody knows we were better. Can't we get some more time on the clock to prove it? That's fair.
* The third period ended in the hockey game and we were only one point down and that point came from an accidental deflection into the net. Let us have another period? Seems fair, right?
* When the votes were all tallied we were still behind our opponent. Can't we recount? Please count them again and again and maybe have a re-vote?

Should be:

*We lost the football game by 2 points because our quarterback ran it back into the end zone on purpose and gave the other team a safety.

* We lost the basketball game by one point because our center purposly missed two foul shots at the end of the game.

*We lost the hockey game because our goalie shot it in our own net in overtime on purpose.

* We lost the election because our opponet closed the election polls while most of our voters were stuck in traffic.

In the first three cases... it sucks but they wouldn't re-do the game. You should riot and call for the beheadding of that quarterback, center, or goalie. In the third case.. well thats politics and not relevant to traditional ethics.

I wish they would re-do the race because it sucks. But if you want to use the above examples, they shouldn't.

Man, this whole thing just keeps getting funnier by the day. This guy is making himself out to be the biggest joke in drag racing (obviously some of you will want to reply that Force is already the biggest joke, but it's too predictable so save your keystrokes).

Here's the most laughable part of it all:

“There’s controversy surrounding it, good bad or indifferent. We are in the entertainment business but I don’t feel we got a fair shot at the deal even though we lost. Let’s settle this in one run, if we get our ass handed to us then we get it handed to us."

In the words of Randy Goodwin:

rkellywtfio8.gif

Uh Cruz.....it was settled in one run.....and you did get your ass handed to you.

Except Randy is set up in the other camp pointing his finger.

Why don't the brothers schedule a match race someplace, take the procedes from said matchrace and finish paying off PF's estate for their old mans recreation! Now, back on topic.......

Late..........Mitch

Never owned and operated a business?
Never played team sports?
Never answered to big time sponsorship responsibilities?
Just don't like John Force?
Didn't think so?

Your implying theres room for fixing sports as long as it's a good business decision?

As a casual fan (like a high percentage of people) one reason for watching is for the competition. As a casual fan I think it sucks that he probably threw the race. As a casual fan, I can't find justification in throwing a race.

Can you compare this situation to a Pete Rose type scenerio where a player can change the outcome of a game to make some money? Maybe Force gets a bonus, certain perks, or future sponsorship if AAA makes it into the countdown. If that were the case, how can Force not face the same scrutiny as Pete Rose did?

Let's see how this works....if Robert loses he loses his spot in the countdown. If Cruz loses he loses.....wait....he doesn't have a spot. Now that is ridiculous. Maybe if Cruz loses he could shave his head or leave town. Now that sounds like wrestling.
Let Cruz race Tony for his spot.

Here we have a real solution because Tony didn't take out that 'ol trucker, it's his fault anyway. Great post Terry!!!!

WTF? Are you kidding me? I thought for a minute this might be a joke. Well, it is a joke but not meant to be. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I dont even really have the words for it.

Look, if Cruz and Tony had done the same thing and got Cruz in and Robert didnt make it I'd say the same thing. It sucks, but its business and I cant blame them. I would have to do the same thing.

What a bunch of crybabies.

All of these what if's by the the Pedregon group is insane. If they knew all along this was going to happen, why didn't they bring out an extra car to benifit Cruz? Put Frankie in it or something.

This whole thing is a result of the the stupid countdown. If the Pedergon's have a problem with the situation, boycott NHRA or something. Don't show up at the races.

I think Cruz has got some major balls complaining about how this turned out. He should still be thanking his lucky stars that he was given the Championship last year when everybody clearly knows the Wilk is the real Champ. I didn't hear Timmy whining about the countdown, he accepted it and took it like a man.

Maybe if tobler wasn't such a lousy tunner, Cruz would have been higher in points and this wouldn't even be an issue. Did anybody notice that Cruz's car suddenly started to run much better after Dickie left? I'm guessing it's because tobler finally got a look at Dickie's tune-up data.

Force worked within the system and made it work. What kind of hub-bub do you think would be going on if Force beat Robert and he missed the countown? I'd bet money people would be saying Force is a son-of-a-b*tch because he wouldn't help his own son-in-law. Basically, Force is in the sh*t with somebody either way.

The controversy is great for the sport. Shirley's column in the Hemmings Muscle Car mag hit it on the nose. She said Drag Racing is getting boring and it would take a little friction to get things stirred up again. She said a little pushing and shoving is just what this sport needs to make things exciting again. All this crap about a Dixon Schumacher rivalry is phooey. Force and the Pedregon's, now this is real rivalry. Bring it on boys, bring it on!!!

BTW, if Tony happens to need a round win during the countdown to stay in the points, and he happens to have to race Cruz, who do you think is gonna win? If Cruz beats Tony and keeps him from a shot at the title, they are just plain stupid.

Dave

As I understand it, Cruz and Tony aren't speaking to Frank.

To quote Cruz in Indy when asked about his brother Frank, "He's the outcast of the family and we don't talk to him":D

As I understand it, Frank and Tony had a blow up about a woman, it got very ugly, and it went downhill from there.

To show "No Hard Feelings" I think John should put Frankie in a T/F dragster next year.

Cruz did lose his spot.. But Robert was given his...

What if the tables were tunred and Robert got screwed out of the countdown. Would you guys defend them for there decision? I doubt most would....

I agree though this is a stupid idea... Live and learn and put better rules in place to not have to worry about this in the future

+1 What happened was crap, but this is just ridiculous.

The more one looks back at history, the worse the Pedregons are looking in this deal. Cruz laid down for Tony in the semis at the 2007 Vegas fall race, a .127 reaction time and up in smoke right out the gate. The other pair in the semis both got down the track, so that's a pretty good indicator that it wasn't a one lane race track. ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals FUNNY CAR

Then, how ironic is this? Tony Pedregon won the Championship over Robert Hight by less than a round (19 points)! 2007 Division 0 Point Standings
