According to Firebird Raceways Mr Allen...JFR will bring two cars for an open weekend to match race for $30,000....and the rights to sell t-shirts/etc...
And...he said JFR is not the most expensive team out there for match racing..
He made it sound like the Pedregons command more....and got it this past year..

seems like it doesn't it. I can't take any more bad news. And this really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. It's entertainment.

I don't know what the current standard is on match race payouts (guarantees) PJ, but I truly doubt that at the end of the week the over-the-road expenses and operating costs could be covered for a Grade A team or two by local race tracks (that are of suspect safety standards...)

Not only that, but a lot of the local tracks are not up to standard for a state of the art fuel car. I know this will cause many to slam me and say neither are a lot of the older national event tracks, but I know some fuel guys that would never run a car at our local track. It just isn't set up for the speeds and safety is an issue. Fire Away!!

I love the match race idea. With small sponsors it would work. Less travel, still gain data, sell shirts, all good.

Nothin to flame ya about Lori... Most tracks couldn't even surface prep for 7000hp, and surfaces past 1320' would be hell on most of these thorobreds.. That's to say nothing of the sandtraps/ nets that some here have already written off on the National event tracks, much less the local touring circuit..

I worded it wrong I didn't mean that the teams would take the whole gate. I just meant walking into a national event that ticket price is being split a bunch of ways. At a match race only 2 teams would need a slice, plus of course the track.

I think they could make money on it, don't know if it would be enough though
