You can't blame DSR or the other big teams for how expensive it is. Well, I guess you could, but these teams have been out here for decades, how do you put a ceiling on progress? Everyone wants it to be like the '60s, where 3 buddies get together and field a fuel car. Well, that was 50 years ago. How many things today are the same economically as they were 50 years ago? The cool thing about drag racing, is even today, new teams can pop up and jump in, even with limited budgets. There were several at Indy. Try that in F1 or Indycar or NASCAR. Having said all that, the economics of drag racing surely need to be greatly improved, from cost controls to better purses, but that's up to NHRA, not the teams. Finally, I was thrilled to see Papa John's get involved and really hope they stay awhile!
