No Force Cars at Norwalk, Night Under Fire (2 Viewers)

I was surprised by that too. But to be honest, John just doesn’t seem himself when he’s interviewed. I’m not sure if it’s accident related, or he just doesn’t like the fact that he’s not driving. I almost think it’s the latter. He loved being behind the wheel so much, maybe he just doesn’t have the same exuberance for just being a team owner.

Maybe it wasn’t in the budget. Current sponsorship deals probably aren’t nearly as lucrative as the deals of the past. That’s pure speculation though.

I wonder how many interviews you've listened to? He seems totally opposite to me, their have been lots of interviews at the track and in the media since his accident. This year he's at every race and at the starting line for every run supporting his team. When tv shows him at the starting line l think he looks fairly happy and content in his new role. He's 76 years young and got his "bell" severely rung and he knows he's not going to drive a nitro FC again and has pretty much said as much.

I was going to post the same thing. John does not look happy anymore. When one of his cars makes a killer run he doesn't look excited or even smile. Sad deal for one of the most passionate and excitable stars in NHRA's history.

Do either of you ever watch Nhra.tv?
I’ve subscribed since day 1. I’ve also watched countless interviews with John Force over many years. If you think his recent interviews are anything close to his previous ones, then I don’t even know what to say. His recent interviews are more like Jimmy Prock, than John Force. I’m not disparaging John in any way. I’m just making an observation that he doesn’t seem like the same old John Force to me. Like somebody else said, it could just be he doesn’t have the same adrenaline he did after hopping out of one of those beasts.

The old, high energy, always amped-up version of Force that we are so familiar with may have been supercharged with much coffee and Monster Energy-type drinks. Doctors could have required him to back off the caffeine after the accident to help with his recovery.

If you didn't know Force you probably couldn't tell by just talking with him. We've all seen his post-accident interviews and he does pretty good. Still, it's obvious the fiery demeanor isn't quite as fast and furious as it was before.

Doesn't matter. He's still out there enjoying himself, no doubt lamenting the fact he's no longer competing but considering what he went through I'd say he made a remarkable recovery. He'll never forget the love of driving but he's still a big, big part of drag racing and his legacy will live on forever. 👍

No of course he's not the same old John Force. He's in a different place in his life now. One thing thats a given is that all our lives change.
