Nicholls Has State Of Origin Fever, Drag Racing Style

(Sydney, NSW) The Super Charged Outlaws 'State of Origin' series opener will be fought out this Saturday (October 14) at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) and NSW based driver, Adam Nicholls, is looking to have the upper hand over his Queensland rivals.

Driving his Skip's Fire Service / Re dback Exhausts supported 55' Ford Thunderbird Funny Car, Nicholls cannot wait to be amongst the thick of the action on his home track WSID. The Super Charged Outlaws 'State of Origin' series has not been held since the early 1990s, and Nicholls is excited about its return.

"It's been ages since we've had a 'State of Origin' series and it's great for the Super Charged Outlaws category in raising its profile within the drag racing industry," Nicholls enthused.

"I'm very much looking forward to getting out there and running up against those Queenslanders, and hopefully we can get over the top them, but it's not going to be an easy task by no means."

The format for the series takes 10 of the best drivers from each state to contest a qualifying run before battling it out in three successive rounds, before the highest two point scorers fight it out in the final, whilst third and fourth place in the point standings (after the three rounds) will race outright fo r third.

"I feel very honoured to be able to represent my home state of New South Wales and I'm going to be giving it my all in order to achieve success," stated Nicholls.

"With so many tough competitors it's not going to be a walk in the park, so everyone is going to have to be on their game."

Nicholls is set to return to the track with a rebuilt engine after it was damaged during his strong season opener, AC Delco Nationals, at WSID back in September, which forced him to miss the Australian Nationals at Queensland's Willowbank Raceway.

"I have a fresh engine onboard and will be looking to make my mark from the outset, and my team has made a number of improvements during the engine rebuild," he said.

"The aims are to qualify strongly, and then take everything from there, and hopefully that will be the launching pad for an impressive outing."

The second round of the Super Charged Outlaws 'State of Origin' series will take place at Qu eensland's Willowbank Raceway on Saturday, October 28.
