Maybe the teams should have used the Indy Test to test in the right lane!;)
I think almost all of the nitro runs were in the left lane.

I didn't have an issue with the track at all.

I thought both lanes had their fair share of balled spots and it was critical where you lined the car up and what your driver did while going down the track.

With the amount of different types of cars going down that track over 6 days, I would say it would be very difficult to keep the starting line in tip top shape.

Guys you cant beat mother nature. They just redone that track a few years back. I know it sucks to have one lane better than the outher but if it would have been overcast and 70 out and low hum. no one would be saying anying I saw them spraying track a bunch of times wile I was there. Like someone said the evening sessions where killer and it was not even dark out when the fuel cars started there first runs. This was my 19th year in a row for the race I'm going back in two weeks to crew on blown alky hemi Alterd that will run low 6s. If the track is bad what can I do about it? I'm just greatful to be there at a place where so much has taken place. I cant help but think of Blane and Elemer when I walk out on the track or in the stands. Just my 02cents everyone carry on..

I have to admit I was more frustrated last night at Clemson trying to lose the football game than the one lane race track at Indy.

I guess I'm the board Dummy, but why not spray some traction compound on the bad lane??

With all of the electronics involved couldn't they use a strain gauge on the "Farm All" that lays down the rubber to get a camparision of the traction avalible for each lane? Then just spray-n-drag untill the lanes are within a predetermined tolerance of each other.

Just a thought.

Mike Ashley went public with it.............basically saying it was a done deal that he was going to win since he had lane choice.:(

The fuel teams that tested at Indy the week prior to the U.S. Nationals all ran in the left lane - and that was their choice. Seems to me they could have learned something about getting down the right lane had they elected to test in that lane, but I'm only an observer.

As Dixon's run showed, the early problems in the right lane could be overcome. Robert Hight's problems came after he had problems further down the track that wiped out his early lead. Greg Anderson almost pulled it off in the right lane, but his car did a small dance on the launch and in Pro Stock that's all it takes, especially in the final round.

Yes, the right lane had some problems - to me, they appeared to be in the first 60 feet or so. But enough teams managed to pull off wins in that lane that it's not clear it was all the lane's fault.

And who are the owners of most of the One-Lane tracks? Anyone?

NHRA is a piss poor track manager... more worried about luxury sky boxes than having a facility that yields a competitive race and afford the racers decent pits!!

Well, I can't speak for the rest of the tracks the NHRA owns, but if you want to talk about piss-poor track management, you should try ORP during a regular bracket program. I won't go into any detail, but let's just say that, under the right management, there's one hell of an opportunity west of Indianapolis for a drag strip................

Or . . .

. . . was this an underground ploy to further the players that NHRA were secretly aligned with? Should Graham Light send out a memo to the sanctioning body about staging preferred competitors' victories through the strategic use of one-lane racetracks? Should there be fines and penalties threatened in the memo? Take it one step farther and review all the tire spinning competitors to fine/penalize them for diving? We need something to call entertainment since only two cars run at a time and one was always in a disadvantaged lane?

That is absolutely hilarious Bobby!!!
:D
