NHRA web site (2 Viewers)

Several times lately when I go to their site my virus detection software goes nuts. It happens when I click on drivers blogs. Anyone notice this? I'm using AGV 8.0 and I understand this is one of the best available.

Well, after that scare of tons of pop ups telling me to download this 'free scan', AVG scanned it and came up with a couple things that it qaurantined, but I kept hitting cancel when the pop up came to tell me to download something or the other.

11 threats popped up on doug herberts blog and while I was trying to get out, 15 popped up on Cory Macs.

Very similar to the one I posted.

I put 'nhra blogs' in the AVG search box and it did not come out as certified to be safe. Had a question mark, on the other hand nitromater.com came up as testing perfect to AVGs scan.

Two possible explainations:

1. Either the site was hacked....

2. Or AVG is reporting a false positive (listing a harmless item as a threat).

I'm thinking #1 as the site is down now so they must have caught it and took the servers offline so they can disinfect them.

I never thought about them reporting 'false postives' but I really doubt that one Samual, only because I kept getting those pop ups offering to scan my computer that weren't AVG offers.

Site won't load on my mac. Those of us who own the superior computer don't have virus issues - So . . . something else may be going on.
IMG converts NHRA.com to pay per view so NHRA can afford IMG in-house representative? Hmmm

I just checked and it's working fine for me. I use AVG Pro 7.5 so I don't know what to tell you.

I don't know what's going on either, but I didn't want to take any chances seeing that it is my personal computer (not that I'd want it to happen to any other computer I'd be on) and I don't need my computer to crash during finals.

Mine says it's version 8.0.93

AVG sent me a code to update after i requested it about a month ago. This one seems a lot more comprehensive than the prior version. More buttons

Was down for a couple of hours tonight -- bet they found they'd been hacked, and took it down to clean it up. But of course I'm only guessing, 'cause I use one of those other computers that doesn't have this issue...

BTW, this isn't the first time AGV caught this for me. About a month ago or so it did the same thing. I emailed NHRA webmaster and they told me nah nothings wrong but I trust AGV because they saved my butt in the past. I do an AGV update daily and scan everyday at 10am. My quarantined file is huge. Lots of creeps out there who think it's funny to blow up your puter.

I know NOTHING about hacking computers, that's why I have my own in-house IT guy...
