I don't believe it. NHRA is not an official nitro supplier, so they would have to fine themselves $100,000 if they brought a little as one drum into the track during a national event.

I totally agree with you, PJ. There's really no reason the NHRA shouldn't cut out the middle man and sell directly to the racers. They can have total control, and it if they sell it at a reasonable price, it would show some very good will toward the racers, and I think the racers could use that as much as anything right now.

Sean, there is no disrespect intended whatsoever but do you really believe this is possible? Take it one step further and ask, if they don't sell it at reasonable prices what would it show?

No disrespect taken, Bobby. To answer your last question, I guess I think it would show no good will towards the racers. You ask if it's possible to sell it at a reasonable price to start with, and if the rumors going around about nitro being available from other sources for much less, then the answer, obviously, is yes, it's possible.

I guess the only point I was trying to make is that in times like this, where operating costs are obviously at a point of keeping teams on the sidelines, anything the sanctioning body can do to help the situation out should be done, period. And if one of those things is the ability of doing away with an "official supplier" of nitro and bringing that deal in-house and saving the racers a few hundred bucks per barrel, then they should suck it up and make it happen, because it's the least they can do.

I thought that was covered last month, something about not paying the bills or something like that!

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner.

How can there be a shortage if a rep for a previously approved supplier has 700 barrels?

When did WEGO get taken off the official supplier list, when they are, basically, the sole source for racing grade Nitromethane?
