NHRA revamping 2007 racing schedule? (1 Viewer)

If you don't think interfering with IHRA is a big part of this we need to talk about some swamp land in Florida.

If its real cheap, lets talk! :p Larry knows what he's talking about.

The NHRA schedules sometimes interfere with their own schedules! Last month they had three connecting divisions running divisional events on the same weekend. Divisional events in 4,5 and 6 on the same weekend cost them in car counts at each event. Multiple divisionals during the same weekend are not uncommon, but they usually are something along the lines of 1,4,7, or 1,3,5, or 2,4,6.

And this weekend they had a divisional in Chicago with a national right next door in Denver - at least it gave the TAD and TAFC guys a place to play last weekend.

Since IHRA's strategy is to wait for the NHRA schedule and then schedule on off-weekends, no amount of shifting and date swaps short of an absolute blanket will prevent that from happening.

IHRA also intends to compress their schedule next year - this year included a very slow start, then two Canadian events in a row and is just now getting off and running. KInd of hard to maintain any momentum when there's a five-week lull in the schedule and then two out-of-town events.

I don't mind the shorter schedule. The only problem NHRA could have is if they get a couple of rain outs. With less off weeks it would be harder to make them up.

its funny how quick the internet can cause situations to escilate. do people really think the higher ups sit back and wander how to mess up ihra? c'mon. if nhra was worried about fuel teams going over to ihra , why didn't they do something long ago with top fuel. all nhra would have to do is make the rules different enough to keep cars from crossing over. (like the alcohol funny cars).

The situation has escalated because people are talking about and sharing their thoughts on this subject?

If they can get rid of IHRA then they have the only game in town.

Then what would I have.......this could get ugly....Paul Page, NHRA only game in town, All the cars look the same & most of the field owned by the same person.

IM DOOMED.

Check out ComPlus news for latest on NHRA and Norwalk. It's not nice to fool with mother Bader.

I IRL tightened up their schedule the same way last year. They used to start first of march and end in october, now they start first of april and end in september. One of the biggest things nascar has going for it is that once the season starts, a fan knows a race will be on virtually every weekend. Too many open dates in a schedule can hurt the ratings by killing the buzz / momentum / whatever...

I 'd love to see a later start, the way the first three races are so spread out doesn't make much sense. I 'd also like to see the Gators earlier like , just after the daytona 500. maybe it wouldn't be so hot. move em back to the first weekend in march like they used to be
