cool.....I love it when an "old" strip gets new life!!! Enough of the stadium builds....make the old tracks better, that's all....and if you have a spare $150, get a steak while you're there, they'll throw in the potato

Like Banning and Tulare this will not happen. Announcement yes-Event no.

The difference is, The Area wants a Race, and improving that has been around for years...

Not a wish and a dream for a new track to be built in a state that doesn't want autoracing....

Go look at the place. Not enough room to stage the Pros prior to pitting them. Not enough room to pit them either. Not enough parking, hotels,
or resturants near the track.

The powers that be at Epping have been working towards this for the last 3 or 4 years (basically since they switched sanction). This is not something that they have thrown together willy-nilly. If it couldn't get done, they would not put on the press conference.

PS Find out who the owners and investors are at Epping and then get back to us. There will be no egg on those faces, the event will happen.

I agree Chris.. looks like they finialy got to the point its time for and event... good for them if thats whats announced...

Sam- I could be wrong, but as long as E-Town is there and I don't see them losing a date. Now the more interesting question, do they add another event to the calendar or take a race away from a track like Z-Max?

I keep reading that Epping is a very nice track. Hopefully they'll add it to the current schedule instead of taking a race away....

Probably more the former than the Latter. ZMax isn't losing both days if anything 4 Wide becomes a Big Money Invitational exhibition sorta like the No Bull Showdown in Bristol Like the "Coca-Cola Cavalcade of Stars?" (I'd figure to rehash the name for this).

If they drop E-Town, NHRA would look like total scuzzbuckets.

This has NOTHING to do with Englishtown, two different markets. How did you guys get that in your head?

And I have no inside information, but I do know the track was told what needed to be done to host a National Event and they have been working to get there. It was known going in that it would take some time to accomplish. But I can't see an announcement being made if the track isn't ready.

You can bet that track will see Major renovations by the time the race comes around! But what an awesome Market to be in...

NHRA loaned them $7 Mil. For renovations! The place gets 10,000 for Div. races, getting 20,000 for a Natl. event will be easy if the weather cooperates!

Joe, the loan amount was 1.2 mil down from the proposed 12 mil. All new concrete track, land has been cleared to make more room in the pits.

I was wondering that myself ... how would anything happening in the Boston market have anything to do with the New York market? It is zero net gain if they add Epping and drop ETown. Way better for NHRA to have both races.

I hope they get alcohol cars there ... D1 Alky Funny Car is awesome.
