With the possibility of no qualifying on Friday or Saturday, the first raceday the pro teams go directly into Elimination Round One could very well be detrimental to a teams championship dreams!
Didn't they do this in Gainesville a few years back? Rained out everything Friday and Saturday. 1 time trial for Sportsmen classes after the Pro finals Sunday evening then eliminations on Monday, IIRC.
you think it never rains in California. NHRA posted on NHRA.com a picture of the tower and in front the track is flooded. this is a announcement of Friday rain out. that picture was not from this year. the picture shows the Pluming Concepts sign on the far left second level suite, this year it is on the far right and another sign next to it dedicated to to my long time friend and racing partner and owner of Plumbing Concerts Ken Meadows (RIP).

Thanks Mark, I even surprise myself at times after all of the tire shake I have been through in my years of racing. going on 83 my brain still works but my chassis is way out of warranty and ready for the junk yard.

Looking at that shot of the track, I wonder how long it's been since the Pomona non-concrete portion of the track was re-paved? I wonder if it ever will be? It sure doesn't look very good there, but I guess it is still relatively smooth.

It is looking like from maybe 10 am on for a few hours maybe dry.................fingers crossed would like to see a possibility of change in the final points.
Who remembers when Pomona got snowed out for the Winternats? 1970's if I remember right. Someone published a photo w/ a paper boat, that I think was on the cover of Natl Dragster. Mabey it was hail.... I think that was the same race that took 3 weeks to complete. Yes I was there.
