I'm not sure if this has been covered in any of the other threads, and if it has, feel free to ditch this thread, but I was quite gratified to see the Nascar world reacting to Scott's tragedy. At the beginning of the Nationwide (busch, whatever the hell it is) race they had a moment of silence for Scott right before the national anthem, and at the conclusion of the race winner Carl Edwards did not do his trademark backflip. During his post race interview he explained that his thoughts were with the Kalitta family and this was "just not the time for a backflip" Extremely classy guy and a very respectful decision. I was glad to see the roundy round guys showing that all racers are kin to one another, and any tragedy is a tragedy for all. Kudos to Carl Edwards from this drag racer for his thoughtfulness and respect.

I never watch Nascar but I think I was just in shock sitting there so I kept it on the channel after the last qualifying show was over and was very happy to see that they did a moment of silence and continually offered thier thoughts and prayers to the Kalitta family...I have a new found respect for Nascar and thank them for thier support of NHRA at that time, something I thought would probably never happen.

Not only was there a moment of silence before the Cup race ... a Toyota bigwig delivered about a 30 second clip expressing his sorrow to the Kalitta family and NHRA fans. Classy move ...

I turned on the TV to see when Qualifying was on and caught the moment of silence.
what a shocker!
It impressed me they, NASCAR, would do the moment. Modified my opinion. It was class.

Kind of like when Ayrton Senna died. On TV the NHRA guys knew that day and commented.
All one big family.

Before the Nationwide race started Saturday evening, the track announcer asked that everyone have a minute of silence for the loss of Scott.
