When I was at the March Meet, there were LOTS of oil downs. So you aren't going to get away from oil on the track if you are going to watch ANY nitro show.

Mav T V which Forest Lucas Owns has started running European Drag Racing on Fri Nights BTW and this weekend he was on Dave Despain's show and told his whole life story .
He started by buying a Semi truck and Trailer and became a owner operator of a Mayflower Moving Van .
He bought several more trucks and in the interest of saving money on maintenance and improving his bottom line he started developing his own additives for his own trucks his chemical division was born .
The rest we all know .
How many know Charlotte his wife and Morgan's mother races a Super Comp Dragster ?
We are so lucky we have people of their caliber in our corner . Forest said a couple things I really liked .
Where Mav T V is headed in the Motorsports world and how proud of his son and Wife he is watching them Drag Race . I love hearing self made men stories , that's America .
It's much harder under the regulatory climate these days but one should never underestimate the power of " WE THE PEOPLE " .
I for one hope Forest's Mav TV gets the next NHRA contract . He talked about the Production company and it's growth and how even where there is no T V's he wants people watching his Motorsports Channel on Phones and Tablets by streaming . That's a man with a vision and he's our man . Thanks Forest !

???? NHRA Drag Racing has been in HD for years on ESPN2. It's even HD if you watch on ESPN3. I can't think of any channel/programming that is not in HD these days.

really looking forward to watching this series. here you will have a totally unique production crew airing edited ihra nitro jam
television broadcasts; the nhra/espn production crew will have a chance to critique these, figure out what wouldn't work for the
nhra nat. event broadcasts, but also see what new ideas would carry over to the nhra.....a win/win for everybody.

2010 and 2012. 2010 was so bad with oil downs they could only run 1 session of nitro on Friday (they did have 35 or so Funny Cars and 20+ front engine top fuelers, so the one session they ran lasted for 3+ hours). It is also important to remember that Bakersfield does not have the full compliment of Safety Safari equipment to handle oil downs so it takes longer than a big show clean up, but they do a pretty good job of getting it done reasonably quick while providing a decent racing surface. I still had a good time and would still recommend that anybody check out the March Meet if they can ... A lot of nitro gets burned that's for sure! The warmups in the pits are worth the price of admission.
Oildowns have always been a bummer, but I would say nowadays, with everyone's attention spans so short, fans are really not forgiving. If you think about it, while we still have them, the oildowns are fewer and cleaned up quicker than compared to years ago. And, that's with cars pushing a LOT more fuel and creating a LOT more cylinder pressure than ever before. As often said, the bombs are way bigger now. So it's kind of asking a lot have cars make 10,000HP, run in the 3's at 320+ in 1000 ft, and make laps like a Super Comp car. Never going to happen. I'll suffer through the occasional oildown for the ability to see a nitro show. But that's me...
