Oildowns have always been a bummer, but I would say nowadays, with everyone's attention spans so short, fans are really not forgiving. If you think about it, while we still have them, the oildowns are fewer and cleaned up quicker than compared to years ago. And, that's with cars pushing a LOT more fuel and creating a LOT more cylinder pressure than ever before. As often said, the bombs are way bigger now. So it's kind of asking a lot have cars make 10,000HP, run in the 3's at 320+ in 1000 ft, and make laps like a Super Comp car. Never going to happen. I'll suffer through the occasional oildown for the ability to see a nitro show. But that's me...
