So I got my youngest nephews (10, 10, and 9) model rockets. They were excited. Can't wait to launch the rockets with them. But as soon as they figured out what the rockets did, they went back to playing their cousin's PSP. Kids these days, lol
I got my kids those rockets too last year. They are 5 and 3 and seem to enjoy it a bit. I took them to a giant soccer field but still managed to lose two rockets the same day, one in an adjacent cornfield and one into the only patch of trees within a quarter mile.
Yeah, I spent a lot of time building rockets as a kid with similar results; hours of pain staking work only to launch them and have them float off into the woods never to be seen again!
What's fun is the D and higher powered motors. And past a certain rating, the motors use composite propellant (like the stuff used in the SRBs of the space shuttle) instead of blackpowder.
