Alexis isn't great on the tree but this weekend was way out of the ordinary. Had to be heat related. I think the broadcast booth even alluded to that. I wouldn't hold it against her.
Heat related - but as it applies to her, not the car. 5800' altitude for someone not used to it can play hell with you physically, too. Based on what she's said in some of her track end interviews it sounds like she has to get mentally 'geared up' for the next round so perhaps she's worrying a bit too much. That'll certainly affect your reaction time consistency - ask Angellle Sampey who lost many races because of inconsistent reaction times. .020 one round; .080 the next, then red.

Not a diss....and hey, if I thought I could do better I'd ask Connie for a job. LOL Just an observation.

noticed FOX had blocked off 3.5 hours for broadcast, but show was done around 3 hour mark. i recorded it, and have 30 min. of some soccer something at end of recording.
IMO clay's win was the best send off possible for bandimere. a crowd favorite at the last race of an iconic facility.......the shot of his crew running towards clay at top end was great,
and to agree with others, so happy for jim O too ........ how do you cut an .008 light in FC? hagan with the worst job of red lighting ever; but that's a great team, and sometimes
you end up making your own luck.

The reality is that not all people have the same Cognitive to Motor Skills corodination and things like age and body condition always affect that. On a 4 tenths tree the "average" person takes .210 to react and the car (vehicle) does the rest. Some extrodinary people are faster and some are slower. You will notice that in most classes (not just the Pro's) they change things like - clutch linkage - throttle position - seat position - launch RPM - brake pressure (line lock) - button travel - goggle tint and other things because it is a lot easier to do than change the driver. Even Sun glare and which lane you are in can make a difference. If you are Not the one to get lane choice you already have it in your head that you are in the less desirable lane so you have to compensate, which works on your concentration. A paid driver or extremely competitive driver will usually be totally concentrated on the task to the point where they eat right - excersize right - do things exactly the same way on race day (weekend). Even though a lot of people think that they can Multi-task, 99.99999 percent cannot do either task to 100% efficiency. If it was easy we wouldn't have any difference in drivers and their abilities.

I noticed her reaction times as well (throughout the event), BUT, as has been discussed before, how the car reacts can be effected by how the car is set up. Being in Denver, which requires a totally different set-up, we shouldn't be so quick to slam Alexis on her rt's.
Del has driven and tuned funny cars for over 30 years and am positive he has done everything to assure the car is on point.. I'd bet a tidy sum that its something she's doing. Other than that she handles the car very well.

Absolutely thrilled for Clay Millican, Jim-O and the team. I found Clay’s YouTube channel recently and it’s gotten me re-interested in drag racing. I’ve been following everything now, including NHRA TV on Tubi.

What I'm about to say probably isn't going to win me any popularity votes, but after making over 1500 passes at the sportsman level, I think I'm entitled to an opinion. I think Alexisis is, for lack of a better term, timid. I think one of her crashes, or some negative event, got in her head, and she's preparing herself for something bad to happen. It's not fear, and it's surely subconscious, and i sincerely hope she gets a handle on it. I think the NHRA is a better place with her in it, and i sorely missed her when she took some time off. I'm not trying to condemn, strictly trying to encourage.

I guess I should've explained myself better. I meant he is no longer in the "also ran" group of drivers.
I’m really hoping that Rick Ware’s resources can get them solidly in the top 8, if not better for the year. I liked Kloeber, but I love Jim-O! That man has an aura about him. So calm and confident.

She’s awesome, maybe she just gets a little hormonal under stress. She will fix it I’m sure. There were plenty of men who redlighted too, and that also may be hormonal (Which is even funnier if you think about it).

I'm sure Alexis has experienced all of that at one time or another. Thanks for explaining the what and the why. 👍

Looked back at a few 2013 races. Alexa was usually .09 to .10 and Del wasn't tuning it. She will occasionally get a good light but mostly not. Every driver has their own way to prepare. Maybe she needs to change some habit she isn't even aware of. Sometimes you think to much.

I think she has alluded to the fact that she is pressing. Thinking, worrying too much. Can be a vicious circle. The harder you try............. the worse the results.
