That's right. Take a pay cut for a year or two while everyone else is having to do the same, then give it back to the guys who make your dream jobs possible.
Nonprofit on the books = big profits for the officers...
Gentlemen you are beating a dead horse here! As more of the old guard (spectators/fans) lose interest and walk away, as sponsors leave and racers find other ways to make a small fortune out of a large one. Wally World doesn’t care for they like P.T. Barnum believe “There's a sucker born every minute" and their right!
As long as their yuppie marketing antics produces new suckers at the gate to buy over priced tickets nothing will be done. The only way to get their attention would be if they gave a drag race and no one showed up - not one fan not one racer. But they know it will never happen so in to the ground they run Wally World.
If Wally World was a third World country there would have been a bloody coup a long time ago fans, spectators and racers aren’t happy.
But it’s the only game in town if you are a racer with a major sponsor who want's TV exposure.
Does it seems just a bit odd to anyone else that no one at NHRA has even acknowledged the many teams that are gone for 2009. At least NASCAR has addressed the situation. NHRA seems to act like nothing is wrong. Damn shame if they have to take a salary cut for a while....or forgo a bonus at the end of the year. Might also want to cut the admission prices so there will be butts in the seat next year. Just a thought!

Just because they are parked doesnt mean they need to have a huge garage sale...Its the costs to run the car from race to race that is parking them, not the cost to buy a car they already have...
I'm seeing a few ads that appear to be nitro team clearouts. You don't know if the hardcore parts resellers are making trips to negotiate purchases. They'll usually unload everything in bulk and let the guys in the business of it do the breaking up and reselling.
Since the industry is going down with the economy, I bet what you can negotiate if you're the seller right now is crap because the reseller's market may suck as well.

If you have a football, you can pretty much toss it around anywhere- don't exactly need a football field.
Kinda a limited arena for these boys- so if you have it, you're trying to put away just enough money to go run it. And it isn't an option yet to take dimes on the dollar to sell it.
The Pomona pits will be the start of some guys "last shot" to secure sponsorship- "garage sales" will come somewhere after Vegas1 . You can bet that there are meetings being scheduled, and plane tickets being bought to get certain pro marketing guys and solvent corporations (there are a few left ) together in time for new names on cars hopefully by Phoenix.
