BROKEN ARROW, OKLA – March 21, 2007
The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division-4 event at Memphis Motorsports Park will be the second event Brandon “The Kid” Lewis competes in this year. As far as he’s concerned, though, Beale Street is where the 2007 NHRA season begins.
“We made so many changes during the off-season, we were doing too many different things in Houston,” Lewis said of his last race when he suffered a first-round defeat. “We made a lot of progress that weekend and did some really positive things, but in a lot of ways we had to look back and treat it as a test session. The real season starts now.”
As Lewis begins a stretch that finds him racing in Memphis, Houston and Dallas in a four-week period, he said Lewis Racing Team is ready and serious about winning.
“We have three races before our back-to-back events in Tulsa,” Lewis said. “When those races come up at our home track I want to have enough momentum built up to carry us through. We want that to start this weekend with a big win in Memphis.”
The driver of the Aluminum Tank and Truck Accessories funny car needs a strong finish this weekend to improve his position in the SouthCentral Division standings. The primary goal for Lewis Racing Team this season is to win the division.
The Lucas Oil-sponsored event kicks off Friday morning and continues through Sunday. Visit memphismotorsports.com for facility and ticket information.
