Matt Smith Out in Round One

Matt Smith started from the sixth position this past Sunday at the O’Reilly Mid-South Nationals in Memphis, Tenn. Having some problems throughout the weekend, Smith was hoping to change all that on raceday; however he would not be so fortunate.

Running an incredible elapse time (7.006et at 189.92mph) first round against Matt Guidera, Smith would give it away as he went red (-.005) first round, losing only his third first round of the year.

“I don’t know what to say,” said Smith. “I mean, I was ready. Heck I saw yellow and I let go. I can’t believe I went red. You have no idea how frustrated I am right now. We lost the points lead for the first time this year and I will just have to come out at Dallas swinging. It is crunch time and we have got to be in the top-four after this next weekend. We have got to be consistent and go some rounds in Dallas.”

Smith who is now in the second place position in the POWERade points is looking to hang on to his top-four position, as the Pro Stock Motorcycle class will duke it out this weekend at Dallas, TX.
