Hi everyone, I apologize about the vagueness of the previous post. I wanted to keep it that way until we knew more about Matt's abdominal pain from the doctors but we now know it is a gallstones...
Smith's out until Indy. Multiple gut issues...gallbladder, kidney stones, inflamed pancreas and 2x hernias. I've dealt with gallbladder and pancreas issues and I'm telling you, it's painful as all hell. Good to see Angie bring home the bacon.
I think the rule is 6 races he can use a substitute. That would mean by Brainerd he'd need to be back. Skipping one race before Indy shouldn't hurt his countdown status much.

Anybody who doesn't believe that the racing community is family and comes together when a team is in need should read what Angie said about everyone offering whatever help was needed when Matt was in the hospital.
Including Eddie and Andrew (Vance and Hines) picking the spots on the starting line and getting the bikes lined up, which is normally Matt's job.

The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ debut at Maryland International Raceway could not have gone better, with exceptional weather, a solid crowd, and compelling drama across all four classes. Here’s our five big takeaways from the NHRA Potomac Nationals presented by JEGS.

Weird part of the schedule is that the Pro Stock Motorcycle call out race is in Sonoma but the bikes are not otherwise racing that weekend. Seems odd to have 8 bikes ship out to the west coast for just the call out race. I'm assuming Chip can ride for Matt in the call out race.

WOW! A WHOLE 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS!? (think lawyer in erin brokovich movie)
(not directed at you carl. IMO i still think making 8 teams drive to CA for this is ridiculous)
I would love to hear the reason behind this. It’s a Denso race so I’m sure they wanted the bikes since they are a big team sponsor. I would think the class outside the two big teams didn’t want to travel all the way to Sonoma for a race. Last year there was only 12 bikes. Clontz, Johnson and Oehler didn’t attend. With the fuel prices being what they are, it would make so much more sense to do this at Norwalk or Indy.
