MATT GUENTHER HAS SLIM POINTS LEAD GOING INTO FINAL PMRA EVENT
Gary Irving qualifies number one at the Grand Bend Motorplex

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (September 1, 2007) - With a mere 10 points separating the top four teams, the final Pro Modified Racing Association event will not only crown a new PMRA champ for 2007, it will decide either the 14th winner in as many events or the first multi-time winner in the history of the series.

After qualifying rounds held during the Teamsters Canada Thunder by the Beach Weekend featuring the Castrol "Night of Nitro" and Second Annual PMRA Challenge Saturday at the Grand Bend Motorplex, the top two teams failed to qualify, but are still holding onto their point standings positions before Sunday's eliminations.

Matt Guenther of Livonia, NY, and Ike Maier of Tottenham, ON remain numbers one and two in the series, although neither qualified for the series final event.

Veteran Pro Modified driver Gary Irving of Toronto paced the stout field of cars with a 6.267-second, 228.94-mph pass in his 1937 Chevy coupe. Terry Brown of Caledonia, ON, took second spot with his 1971 Challenger with a 6.311-second, 227.50-mph lap, and Sam Andreacchi of Toronto qualified third in his 1969 Nova with a 6.322-second, 223.32-mph pass.

In fourth is Scott Wildgust of Stratford, ON, fifth is Larry Sinke of Welland, ON, followed by Dave Earhart of Strathroy, ON, Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, ON, and Bruce Boland of Hamilton, ON.

First round of eliminations is scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. In the series points race, Boland and Wildgust have a mathematical chance of capturing the 2007 title.
