GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (September 2, 2007) – In an exciting season-ending event, Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, defeated Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario in the final round to become the PMRA’s first series repeat winner.
Boniferro, driving the Smokin' Joe’s 1999 Dodge Avenger, ran a 6.625-sec, 216.86-mph pass over Boland’s 6.780-sec, 213.06 effort.
Boniferro qualified seventh in the eight-car field, and Boland qualified eighth.
Runner-up Boland took the 2007 PMRA Championship with his efforts on the Grand Bend Motorplex drag strip during the Labor Day event. He finishes ahead of Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York, and Scott Wildgust of Stratford, Ontario.
