None, i would like to see NHRA tighten the rules on what drivers should wear at NHRA sanctioned tracks, these small tire and big tire races with power additives like nitrous and blowers/turbos. These cars are getting super fast w/stock wheel base, have control issues basically dangerous but fun to drive and entertaining to the fans. I also would like to see emphasis put on fire walls, this particular car had a lot of carbon fiber and it just melted and let fire come into drivers area, i believe he touch on some of that in interview.

How do you know they don't? One thing NHRA isn't is shy when it comes to Driver safety!

Specifically, nothing, In general, everything for anyone that drives. Just goes to show how much of a difference good protective gear can help protect you.

I agree NHRA is on top of safety, I'm talking about running a race on NHRA sanction tracks where other groups running these races follow by the same rules. From what he's telling us there's drivers that are wearing regular pants, tennis shoes, light racing jackets. I just think with a little pressure from NHRA and IHRA to push these groups to spend the extra amount to protect themselves. I hope that the drivers look out for each other to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Well Thats asinine, why any Track operator would take that risk is nuts!

EVERY national event I attend I like to sit at the big end where the cars are going fast. And that means I occasionally have to watch sportsman racers (try it you might like it). EVERY driver in the super categories is leaning forward in their seat, head turning like it is on a top trying to judge the stripe. Most of the door cars guys visors are either cracked or open. If I can see it from the 1,000ft grandstands when they are going 150+, so can everyone else.
So what is the NHRA supposed to do about it? They have the rules in place. They would have to hire 20 more people to check at the turn off during all of the sportsman runs during the weekend, and there is nothing stopping the racers from tightening the belts and closing the visor in the shutdown area.

Not necessary to hire 20 people.
Simple solution, traffic camera... They don't have to enforce on the spot, a warning , then enforcement. JMHO
They don't always enforce the rules... I don't care what anyone says, they don't...
How many times have you seen a picture of a car on the track that the driver has the visor up? Even on NHRA's site it happens.
Or as, Chris says, it can be seen on most every run.
As far as the video, I think it should be required that all drivers and crew should watch it...
I hope Lyle has a full recovery, burns are so painful...
