Thanks for the schedule Mike, it should be a fun event, and nice to have the live tower cam up & operational this weekend. Will be interesting to see A/Fuel and Jr. Fuel Car counts? Bring on the Nitro Funny Cars! Wonder if Dennis Taylor will have his new car out?

Rockabilly rod reunion postponed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sunday, May 29, 2011 -- 2:30 p.m.

The annual Rockabilly Rod Reunion/NHRA Heritage Series at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been affected by high winds this weekend. Due to continued high winds, Sunday’s drag-racing eliminations have been moved to Monday morning.

All rounds of eliminations for the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series will take place on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day) at 8:30 a.m. All rounds for all classes will be contested Monday.

Tickets for today’s events will be honored tomorrow at the front gate. Fans with Sunday tickets may use them for free admission for either the Aug. 27 Back-to-School Bash, one day of the Street Car Supernationals or one day of the 2012 Rockabilly Rod Reunion/NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series.

“Our number-one priority is the safety of our racers and we cannot safely compete under these conditions today,” said Chris Blair, vice president of racing operations for LVMS. “The constant swirling and dust make it impossible to maintain the racing surface to safely operate any type of race car.”

For more information, please call LVMS at (702) 644-4444 or visit Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Follow LVMS, The Strip at LVMS and the Rockabilly Rod Reunion on Twitter and Facebook.

The tower video feed is working again today, Monday May 30, 2011 for the NHRA Heritage Series Rockabilly Reunion from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, at the web-link provided at the begining of this thread!

Final round Action:
NF/C Romine (Man-O-War) 5.84 over Halstedt (Nitro Angel), Halstedt left on him it was a good competitive race!
A/F Bill Wayne over Kumre (didn't make the call), in Semi's JJ Kumre put a big RT.004 light on what seemed to be a mesmerized Dr. Kin Bates RT .123 for a trip to the final round.
Jr. Fuel Dean Carter 7.071 (RT.053) over Bob Lander 7.18 (RT.034), Carter was tough all day. He qualified with a 7.078 and was kind just running around that number all day. (wire-to-wire deal)

Darr has some of his numbers up for the event, at the web link provided::::Drag Racing Online::: Agent 1320 - 5/31/11

Thanks Mark, there's a little more Here.

The Rockabilly Rod Reunion NHRA Heritage Series event at The Strip at Las Vegas was affected by high winds over the weekend forcing all Final Round eliminations to a Monday, Memorial Day finish.

When the dust clouds settled it was Paul Romine charging through a tough Nitro Funny Car field to pick up his first Wally, having competed at NHRA venues since he drove his Gasser in the mid-1960’s. Romine “Man-O-War” Mustang took the final round win over Mike Halstead driving Mike McCain’s “Nitro Angel” Plymouth Duster with a 5.878 ET at 246.62 mph to the Duster’s 5.949 ET at 244.07 mph.

While Halstead held a holeshot advantage off the starting line, Romine’s top end power by Mike Cavalerri charged past his opponent at the 1,100-foot mark to take the win light.
