Lance, I agree, I thought it was a great show! And I need to get to that event, it looks absolutely beautiful up there. Also looked like a strong crowd throughout the weekend.

As opposed to the crowd at the Brickyard yesterday. Sheesh, what a weak crowd at Indy.
I saw this pic on FB. Apparently the crowd at Indy this year for the 500 and the Brickyard.

I call the Bandimeres the Baders of the west. They keep their facility in Top Notch condition, and its so unique literally being carved out of the side of a mountain. Always love racing there, even with as big a bitch as it is to tune for altitude and a starting line that's way better than the air. They pack their stands because they do such a good job with promotion and fan experience, even on weeknight bracket events or Friday night "run what ya brung" programs. One of the few tracks that will pack the stands for a divisional/regional too! Highly recommend putting this track on your list if you've never been.

As for the live show, I think they did a pretty fair job for the first go. The fact that it was on broadcast TV on a Sunday afternoon instead of pay cable in the middle of the night is the really impressive part. I can't wait to see how the ratings turn out.

I was watching the show, and they went from 1st and 2nd round fuel and F/C right to the semis. I thought "WTH?" Thought someone really screwed up the pattern of the show. Then, during the downtime between the semis and finals, they started showing the 2n round and semis of the pro stock cars and cycles. It then occurred to me what they were doing. Finally! Someone put some though into it, and figured out a way to reduce the amount of tap dancing. Oh sure, there was still some fancy footwork, but I though this was a good innovative way to reduce the problem of between round downtime on live shows.

Hats off to whomever came up with that idea!

I noticed the full stands as well. The crowd at Indy was absolutely pathetic. I think they could have closed all except the main front straightaway grandstands, and still have plenty of room. I dug up some old photos of previous brickyard 400,s and it was sad to see the full stands then compared to what I saw yesterday.

We need to be excited when drag racing has a weekend of great attendance, while we've seen downturns over the years, as is being discussed here, it's a motorsports issue, not just drag racing. Racing as a business has to be run like any other business, meaning you have to constantly adapt to changing times. It's a different world now, people are into a lot of different things, especially kids, and technology has given everyone a very short attention span. Having said that, overall I think we're seeing that drag racing is still relevant, and has a strong enough platform to build upon for the future.

I just wish they would explain a "HOLE SHOT WIN" to me a few more times....................................................................NOT !!!.

And did you know that a FC has the same engine as a TF car?

I guess we now have to put up with a show that caters to people who know nothing about drag racing.

Ya, new fans are a pain in the ass, who needs them, oh ya our sport, there is a fine balance between to much info and not enough info, ratings going up, they must be doing something right, when you are at a race and a newbe asks you a question, do you blow them off or welcome them with a good answer, the more impressed they are with TV coverage, the more likely that they will want to see a race live
