Let silly season.......BEGIN!

My stock broker just called. He wants me to be ready to buy stock in the Speedy Dry Company. He said he read on some web site that people want injected nitro in TAFC.

as soon as you invest,NHRA announces that this is now the new "Officially Licensed Oil Dry Of The NHRA"...

I only had to wait an hour and 15 minutes at the Vegas 2 Regional for the cleanup when Garret Bateman blew up his nitro injected dragster. What could go wrong in a funny car?

All kidding aside, I am glad Garret was OK. I have NEVER seen (or heard!) an A/Fuel car blowup and burn like that.

Not everyone who runs in TAC (top alcohol camaro) (the class formerly known as top alcohol funny car) would be opposed to nitro. A lot of guys would run good, especially any Boggs tuned car. And as for others, it may make for increased fan appeal, because fans tend to like explosions anyway... hell, we've got a guy on the east coast, "Benny the Bomb" who's been blowing himself up at tracks for years and the fans never seem to get tired of him

Benny blew up more than Luigi Novelli but didn't get as far down track.....

seems he fell on hard times a few years ago:
"He is not only performing, but has a Facebook page and it is filled with photos of his exploits, and a story of how his Florida home was robbed and burned last year. Benny, who lives mostly on social security lost all of his possessions and his dog in the fire, and had no insurance. The local community there is coming together to help their hometown-hero rebuild his place, so for the 73-year old Benny, who spent a lifetime blowing things apart, others are now trying to help him put his life back together."

The last time I saw Benny the Bomb was at Detroit Drag way on a weeknight ( Wednesday? )
Had another guy on Roller-skates there with a jetpack on his back. May have been the last time we raced there.
Had many fun times there.

here is a thought... recently the fuel company Hess released a toy funny car and pushing it with ads and commercials... is this new toy leading up to something? maybe Force?

a bunch of Hess stations in NJ converted to Speedway, and by the sounds of this wikipedia entry, I don't think they are in the market to sponsor drag racing....

good to hear Allen Johnson's sponsor Marathon is doing well, though...maybe they should do a Mopar pro stocker toy next Christmas:)

Hess will permanently close its Port Reading, New Jersey petroleum refinery by the end of February, 2013: Gas prices rose to their highest levels since October and Hess said it will lay off 170 of 217 employees, exit the refinery business and seek a buyer for its 19 storage terminals. It will focus on exploration and production.[11] A Hess press release[12] announces the company's plans for "Fully exiting the Company's downstream businesses, including retail, energy marketing, and energy trading." [13] there is no link between the rise in gas prices after the announcement of the closing of the Woodbridge (Port Reading) NJ facility. The output of that facility was more geared to the aviation and specialty fuels markets and not automotive grade products

On January 8, 2014 Hess filed for a tax-free spin-off of its gas station network. The newly formed company was to be known as Hess Retail and will include over 1,200 stores throughout the Eastern United States.[19] Before completing the spin-off, Marathon Petroleum subsidiary Speedway LLC announced on May 22, 2014 that it would acquire the retail unit of Hess Corp for $2.87 billion. Following the closure of the acquisition in late 2014, all Hess gas stations will be rebranded as Speedway gas stations by the end of 2017.[20][21] The transaction completed the transformation of Hess into an oil company focused solely on exploration and production, effectively reversing the Amerada merger almost 50 years prior.

The Hess toy trucks, helicopters, police cars, airplanes, space shuttles and rescue vehicles have been popular Christmas gift traditions for 50 years [30] in the US. It is one of the longest running toy brands on the US market
The toy truck business continued after the sale of Hess' retail unit to Marathon.
