LE Tonglet couldn’t keep up with Andrew Hines in Sunday’s opening round of the Auto-Plus Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway.
The loss leaves Tonglet, the reigning Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, a long way from claiming two straight titles. He won’t know how far behind he is until Monday, when, weather permitting, the race will resume.
Rain and cold weather forced NHRA officials to postpone competition until Monday morning. When racing was halted, Pro Stock car and Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers were waiting for their second-round races.
Tonglet rode the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GSXR to a quarter-mile time of 6.970 seconds at 180.60 mph while Hines got the win light with a 6.903 at 197.33.
