LE Tonglet has short race at O’Reilly Nationals (1 Viewer)

CONCORD, N.C. – With the team still seeking a competitive baseline tune-up for a motor that was rushed into service after their best one broke, LE Tonglet produced his quickest elapsed time of the weekend Sunday in the opening round of the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at zMAX Dragway.

That wasn’t enough, however, to get the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GSXR to the finish line first. The defending Full Throttle Series champion covered the quarter-mile in 6.953 seconds at 186.56 mph, but trailed Matt Smith’s 6.837 at 193.05. Tonglet qualified with a 6.974.

“It wasn’t a good way to start the Countdown,” said a disappointed Tonglet. “Our bike just isn’t running like it has been. The weekend didn’t get off to a good start and it got worse from there.”

The team now moves to the Dallas area for the 26th annual AAA Texas Fall Nationals, Sept. 23-25, at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.
