"IMHO - there is way too much ego involved with team owners who have second or third generation drivers"
Truth be known, there is so much none of you know about what goes on with owners, drivers, crew chiefs and crews. Many of the CC changes that happen may have been coming for some time. Much of it is personality between the crew chief and the crew/driver. Things are almost NEVER what you may think they are. Prime example: Morgan Lucas racing & Hogan. Not one of you got any of it right and you only got one side from Hogan. Keep in mind the egos aren't only with the owners/drivers.
And before you ask, no, I'm not going to devulge any of the information I get
about what goes on with various teams.

Michael,
Yes Gary P from 'down under'...a very nice gentlemen who is quiet but will tell you how it is. We (Tim) took out some big hitters that day--Bernstein/Force and almost set low e.t. w/ the same block/heads all weekend, and a short time after that race Mongoose snatched up Kloeber for the rest of the year. A really fun time in life

Just what do we need to know? Anyone with a half a cup of common sense knows that it's just business. I learned a long long time ago "business is business, and love is bulls--t". When it comes to musical crew chiefs, drivers, sponsors, or even owners, I could care less. The racing is getting more and more squeaky clean, and that's a shame. Drag racing used to be the edgiest sport on Earth, now it's just another boring Discovery Channel reality (not) show. My Indy ticket renewal sits on the cupboard, forgotten, under a pile of other junk mail. Quite possibly the only thing I'll renew is this rant, time and time again. Please please please, someone, driver, owner, crew chief, or tire wiper, get in someone's face on the starting line! A little pushing and shoving. Trash talk about someone's mama. NHRA has everyone afraid to be human anymore. Sigh."IMHO - there is way too much ego involved with team owners who have second or third generation drivers"

Hey Ma,Well Jim & Michael......Since I've been in this sport for some 40 years, worked at Fremont, Irwindale, OCIR, oh and Sacramento. Yes, I'd say I do know most everyone.
I'd say the Sponsors have a say in the attitude/image department a mite too.
It's ALLLLLLLLLLLL about the MONEY!!!
No, we are not in Kansas............anymore.
I still enjoy the show though, I'm not really interested in the drama, life is too short.

Pat, my post wasn't intended to sound as snippety as on more careful reflection it did. I certainly wasn't questioning your knowledge...I was just temporarily bummed that you couldn't share a little of it with us, although I certainly respect your (and your "kids") right to privacy! If I sounded out of line, (and I'm afraid I did) please accept my apology.I post mainly to stop some of the wild speculation posted, usually associated with Morgan Lucas Racing. Many times I get phone calls from my son asking me to post. You guys have no idea how upset (read pissed off) the crew guys get over some of the things that are posted. And why don't they post themselves, you ask? You'll notice NONE of the crew members post to these boards. Once again because the inner workings of the team are no ones business but theirs.
Plus, Mom's will do anything to protect her kids....and I have many.
