Michael,

Yes Gary P from 'down under'...a very nice gentlemen who is quiet but will tell you how it is. We (Tim) took out some big hitters that day--Bernstein/Force and almost set low e.t. w/ the same block/heads all weekend, and a short time after that race Mongoose snatched up Kloeber for the rest of the year. A really fun time in life

"IMHO - there is way too much ego involved with team owners who have second or third generation drivers"

Truth be known, there is so much none of you know about what goes on with owners, drivers, crew chiefs and crews. Many of the CC changes that happen may have been coming for some time. Much of it is personality between the crew chief and the crew/driver. Things are almost NEVER what you may think they are. Prime example: Morgan Lucas racing & Hogan. Not one of you got any of it right and you only got one side from Hogan. Keep in mind the egos aren't only with the owners/drivers.

And before you ask, no, I'm not going to devulge any of the information I get
about what goes on with various teams.

Oh and you are such a know it all 'clap, clap' You also seem to know everyone on this forum and seem... no my bad, not seem, you 'KNOW FOR A FACT' what they would, and wouldn't know? Big head, take a step back from your keyboard before slamming everyone.

That quote was from me and as stated, was MY OPINION - which I am entitled to post. You have no idea who I know in the drag racing community or where I get information.
I in no way stated that I knew what happened in this or the Lucas situation. We'll just have to wait to see what happens to teams who have a revolving door on the side of their transporters.
Of course, since you apparently know everyone and everything, my opinion doesn't matter anyway!

Well Jim & Michael......Since I've been in this sport for some 40 years, worked at Fremont, Irwindale, OCIR, oh and Sacramento. Yes, I'd say I do know most everyone. In fact, I've known many of the current crew guys and even some drivers since they were little kids. My son has been on the national event tour for 25 years, the last 5 for Morgan Lucas.

What I was TRYING to explain is that when everyone starts attacking a team for letting a crew chief go, don't be so quick to state it's the team's fault, OR so quick to believe only one side of the story. There is just so much more going on inside the tour than the average fan will ever know......just as I'm sure there is in any sport and organization.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass. Just saying that "Yes" I really do know all the facts because I get it from the horses mouth.

Just what do we need to know? Anyone with a half a cup of common sense knows that it's just business. I learned a long long time ago "business is business, and love is bulls--t". When it comes to musical crew chiefs, drivers, sponsors, or even owners, I could care less. The racing is getting more and more squeaky clean, and that's a shame. Drag racing used to be the edgiest sport on Earth, now it's just another boring Discovery Channel reality (not) show. My Indy ticket renewal sits on the cupboard, forgotten, under a pile of other junk mail. Quite possibly the only thing I'll renew is this rant, time and time again. Please please please, someone, driver, owner, crew chief, or tire wiper, get in someone's face on the starting line! A little pushing and shoving. Trash talk about someone's mama. NHRA has everyone afraid to be human anymore. Sigh.

I'd say the Sponsors have a say in the attitude/image department a mite too.

It's ALLLLLLLLLLLL about the MONEY!!!

No, we are not in Kansas;)............anymore.

I still enjoy the show though, I'm not really interested in the drama, life is too short.

Hey Ma,
And let's not forget about your time spent working at Kuhl's. For sure you don't want to talk about some of the people,
and " happenings" that were part of that operation. :D
Hopefully the "statue of limitation" is in effect for many of our activities from years past.
How about the "piston cannon" ! ;)

Then I suggest the sponsors take note here... Take note that I may not renew my tickets this year. Seems that should be important to them. I'm weary of this kind of no personality, praise the opponent to the heavens drag racing. Cripes, even WJ has mellowed. It's so phony and sickening. And by the way, when I watch on TV it's usually after I've DVR'ed it. So I fast forward the commercials. Bet espn2 just loves that! How many times do I need to see filthy sludge dumped on that kid and all he does about it is ask for more napkins? Bring back the edge!

Jerry, for sure Kuhl's was worth a lifetime of experience. Too many of the players are still with us to start telling those stories. Yikes!!!!!

I guess my question would be, then, if you know what is going on, and won't divulge any of it, then why post to tell us you cant tell us?

I post mainly to stop some of the wild speculation posted, usually associated with Morgan Lucas Racing. Many times I get phone calls from my son asking me to post. You guys have no idea how upset (read pissed off) the crew guys get over some of the things that are posted. And why don't they post themselves, you ask? You'll notice NONE of the crew members post to these boards. Once again because the inner workings of the team are no ones business but theirs.

Plus, Mom's will do anything to protect her kids....and I have many.

Pat, my post wasn't intended to sound as snippety as on more careful reflection it did. I certainly wasn't questioning your knowledge...I was just temporarily bummed that you couldn't share a little of it with us, although I certainly respect your (and your "kids") right to privacy! If I sounded out of line, (and I'm afraid I did) please accept my apology.
