[coverattach=1]Sacramento, CA- Winning is nothing new for twenty-year-old Blown Alcohol Dragster driver, Kenny Buzdas.

The former two-time Western Conference Jr Dragster and 2007 Top Eliminator West Series Champion and the J. Ray Concrete sponsored team, look to establish some winning momentum this weekend at 33rd annual Nitro Night of Fire held at Sacramento Raceway in Sacramento, CA.

The event, which will feature Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Pro Modified Cars, the West Coast Top Sportsman and Jet Cars, is also the second of a six race schedule featuring the Top Eliminator West category.

Formally known as Top Gas West, this exciting Advanced ET category is a Pro Comp style class where funny cars, altered and dragsters compete on a 6.30 index to the quarter mile. The top eight cars closest to the index in two qualifying attempts, without exceeding the 6.30 second standard will qualify for single elimination race.

“The format for the Top Eliminator West class is very exciting,” stated Buzdas, who in the eight races he has driven for James Ray’s Palmero, CA based team has captured three event titles. “It’s a ‘run what ya brung’ style of class- anything goes. We race on a pro (0.400 second) tree and its very exciting side-by-side bracket racing at 200 plus miles per hour.”

Buzdas believes his 275” wheel based Dennis Sarmento rear engine dragster is ready to return to the winner circle, even after some mechanical bugs recently appeared. “We had some transmission and tune up issues at the first race and we ran well off the 6.30 second pace,” commented Buzdas.” It’s going to be hot this weekend, but we strongly believe our tune up can handle the heat which will permit our Mickey Thompson tires to propel our car to the winners circle.”

The competition will be tough for the J. Ray Concrete team as they look to build some momentum for the remainder of the six-race season. “We leave Sacramento after this weekend’s race head straight to Medford, OR,” concluded Buzdas. “We need a good race to get the momentum back on our side as we go after another TEW point championship.”

The TEW cars will hit the track Friday and Saturday, June 26th and 27th. Friday morning is an open test session and all classes will run first round of qualifying beginning at 4pm. First round of eliminations will begin at 5pm Saturday evening.
