Ah yes! Who can forget the (in)famous "Batmobile"????

Great pics, Rich.

That one on the left in post #5 sure looks like Brainerd to me.

That's back when they parked the rigs end to end along the track, and there was a LOT more room to stand and watch them work on the cars.

Yes sir ... BIR 1985 - It was quite a hike to get back to the pits

The first NHRA national event I attended was the 1984 Northstar Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota. I was lucky to be covering the race for a Winnipeg newspaper. This is the "Budweiser King" Ford Tempo at the '84 event.

I was too young to remember alot of drag racing from the 1980's, but when I got back into it in the mid 90's there was one name that defined nhra drag racing, it was the Bud King Kenny Bernstein. From watching old videos it seemed like he was a ROCKSTAR at the track! We'll miss him, but thanks for the memories! Who else poses with two hot chicks for his hero card?

I believe this is BIR circa 1989. Thats Ormsby's TF car under the tarp. He started running the small front tires in 1989, but subsequent new cars (end of 1989 specifically) had a much larger front wing.:)

This was at an R.G. Canning car show in Long Beach in 'late '84 I think. Kenny was there with his car on display (Force was too w/ the Coke Corvette) and no one really knew who he was. We struck up a conversation and he hunted me down some time after I left his display.

He jumped into my car and literally sat in it for at least 30 minutes sharing stories from his front motored days in Texas. Gotta admit, it was pretty cool. He was not always the most friendly guy at the track, but we had a nice visit during this deal.
